I know personally some of the old board. They tried hard but were stale, lacking in foresite for the club and deficient in management process. That Damian Irvine was trying hard to do a job he was ill equipped to do, is evidence of the difficulties we experienced. Craig Douglas was a tireless worker but was just pushing the peas around the plate. The development was not a new thing that suddenly manifested itself in the past few years. Previous boards have been working on that for decades. So credit for Irvine for being at the right place at the right time. The fact that the club was is debt didn't help, but lack of oversight of the football club was the main area of deficiency. You only have to look at the strides we've made in 12months or more importantly since Lyall Gorman came on board. Better communication, but services and resources in the club, better game day organisation (except for PA system) now we just need to duplicate all this on the paddock.

What strides?

A wooden spoon. Low crowds. No sponsors. Memberships still a mess. Bringing in of a basketball mate as ground announcer which sucked.

It's make or break this year.

We have the cattle at least. Will see how they're used during the year.

As an unabashed board lover or inside man, how's those sponsors going. You know, the ones a businessman like Keogh ran on a platform of being able to sign up.

I'd have Barba kicking balls at tyres in the ingoal until he landed 10 in a row. Even if it took him til midnite.

To be fair a lot of these blokes had not played a real game of footy together for about 6 months or more
A few had never played together.
Expecting them to be on fire first time is a bit much.
I recall that great dragons team of Bennetts taking a while to gel.
Didn't they lose about 4 in a row to start either 09 or 10?

Anyway even if they win by 20 on Friday people will still whinge about something.

That was an excellent example of Flanno's shortfalls.

OK there are things that I'm not happy about, I think we can all agree on that but to say you've coached before (or currently) and squeal about how we're playing (or being coached) in round 1 stinks of bollocks and masterbatory fantasies.

I enjoyed the way we played in '13. Last year was Flanno-less and we sucked.
