HB plays are f*cking great.

My HB scored 4 TD in one game, all 20 ft +!

Starting to get the hang of it, on Rookie I won my first game (5 min 1/4's) 67 -7 and the 2nd (3 min 1/4's) 61-0.

Practice makes perfect!

As you get more and more used to your team (who are you playing as, by the way?), you'll get used to their playbooks and be able to efefctively choose which play to run and when. Madden doesn't always make the best suggestion!

You get some fancy plays, like Flea Flickers, RB-Snaps and QB scrambling moves (only recommended when using Michael Vick, Daunte Culpepper, Donovan McNabb, Ben Roethlisbergr or Steve Nash, really). You get some great defensive plays...It's great.

Using the Bengals. My Superstar is a third string QB so he hasn't seen a second of gametime. Any tips?

I skip all the training and such. Can't be f*cked. Doesn't seem to be doing any harm at all as I'm winning every game.

Sticking to mostly HB and FB rushing plays atm, they seem to be the most effective and pose minimal risk. Plus Rudi Johnson is a gun. This seasons MVP and Offensive Player. There wasn't a game where he didn't score at least 2 TD and averaged 100+.

Shift him up in the depth chart

Or demand a trade to a team with nobody QBs.

Usually good training keeps your superstar's stats up, or boosts them over time. I don't know if the superstar I had at first, when I didn't train, actually improved over a few seasons; something like that keeps them down in the depth chart unless you fiddle with it to make him first string.

Training only seems to boost the stats for the next game though, so it's handy when it's a tough game or something, but afterwards they tend to go back down to what they were the week before. Combine it with off-season training and Performance Institute work, and slowly the superstar will get better and better. Very slowly

Doesn't mean you need a superstar with incredible ability to make him successful, I just wanted a massive DT with a 99 rating :D

What I usually do if my created Superstar is second or third string is this:

* In the off-season, make sure the half that you play as your Superstar (in this case a QB) is perfect or near-perfect; then, in the other half, with your first string QB, make him play like a busted arse - do this for the entire off-season;

* As annoying as it is, go to some practice sessions - this in combination with the first tip will see your Superstar gain valuable points.

You should climb up the rankings quickly like that.

Or you can just shift him into the starting QB role via your computer and depth chart. The only minor problem with this, though, is that your Superstar may gain a "disruptive" personality type, and it will be harder for him to gain fans.

Hmm the other day I used one of those European teams? Rated 58 overall.

Played my cousin (was his first game ever although he did play rush attack and few of the training camps for ages before it) and he was the AFC allstars..

He beat me 38-31.. Someone try that one day with a friend or whatever, it's almost damn impossible to win!

I just beat my mate once.

I used the worst European team, and he used the Green Ball All Time (or something lol).

I prefer playing defense to offense - crazy, I know. And he is a big fan of long passes.

Knowing this, I always set my nickle fields anc swatted down his passes. He hated kicking field goals and punting, and so the final score was 12-7 to me lol.

Lol, I know basically nothing about the defence besides that I always ask Madden and control the player closest to the QB to try sack him.

But yeah I enjoy defence aswell and trying to get the sacks..

What I hate is when you're just about to sack the QB he makes a stupid pass and by the time the game is over he has a crap QB rating because of it and you have, sometimes.. no sacks :(

Its also utter bollocks that their QBs can get the ball away but as soon as i have a defender within 3 yards of my QB i might as well give up.

Well I'm hooked now as well, got Madden 06 in the EA Sports 06 collection (Mainly for Tiger woods 06 as I have done everything on 05) and so far the only game I have played is Madden 06. I'm hooked, I'm not getting much sleep but.
And I hate Gridiron!

Welcome to the club mate!

I too blindly bought the game, relying on pretty much what I heard here.

I had never seen or taken interest in the sport, but now enjoy it!

The only problem with the game is that you need a sh*tload of spare time. I've only completed a year and a half of franchise and the same on Superstar.
