Manly don't want Hasler in 2012

I couldn't give a rats arse about both teams to be honest, but I like to call a spade a spade. This myth that is developing that Des went to the Doggies for less money is getting harder and harder to swallow, especially when he is quotes as saying this:

"‘‘The negotiations continued in the course of which I continually expressed a desire to remain at the Club beyond season 2012. I was told by the Club that my salary for 2012 would not be substantially increased over and above what I was paid for season 2011 and no agreement which was acceptable to me could be reached in relation to my salary for 2013 and 2014."

This whole saga is purely about money. The worst part is had he waited a couple of months (remembering he still had about 18 months to go on his contract) he would have got a substantial payrise. He was trying to get blood out of a stone and then got cranky because he couldn't get more.

Any club that signed with Super League should have been killed off.

And yet Manly helped kill off a fellow ARL team, a team which was kind enough to allow Manly to split from it's district, a team which acknowledged that Manly would take 60% of it's team when they started, a team that without them initially Manly wouldn't even exist... History goes beyond what happened in just the last 15 years, it goes much deeper than that. Don't forget it because we and many others definitely won't.

No, this whole saga is about ego's and people who are thick headed. It's almost like the Katich-Clarke saga to be honest.

That is common knowledge.

Not sure what is hard to believe there

Arko & Politis planned to have 3 teams in Sydney as part of their super league. Bullfrog caught on and the rest is history.

Everyone blames teams for switching to SL, but they did it for their own survival, rightly so.

Regarding this situation. Well seriously I'm finally very happy. Happy with today's decision to sack Dessie and promote Geoff Toovey to full time coach, Now Manly can move on from this crap and consolidate their position as an NRL leader. With Des at the helm under this kind of controversy, the season for the Sea Eagles would have become a circus... it's already a shambles and that is the fault of the board. It's time to right the ship and today is the beginning.

No matter what your thoughts are, the handwriting on the wall says that Kelly Egan, Noel Cleal, Dave Warwick & Jess Ivers all are now coincidently going or gone to the Bulldogs from Manly in either administration or player development roles. Personally it's a great shame because I was a big fan of Kelly, Dave and Jess especially but that is beside the point.

One switching is coincidence, cool, but four of them switching over to sandy shores of Lakemba... and now suggestions that Foran will be brought over by Des to Canterbury, all while Dessie was still set down to be the Manly coach in 2012? It reads as unethical, it sounds dodgy, and also appears that Manly had a good case to end their terms with Des "the supercoach" Hasler. I've had a great time with Des, I think he is truly the best of the current coaches going around. And I'm sad it ended this way, but once Hasler pulled the trigger he created a difficult and almost unworkable situation, and that's the bottom line.

Bye Bye Des, I am a proud Manly Man, You are now part of our history, grateful, so very grateful as I am for the success, it is time for everyone to look to the future. It's time this sideshow was put to bed, not only for Manly but for the good of Jim Dymock and the good of the game as a code. It is time for the era of Geoff Toovey. Best of luck to everyone.

Well said.

Bring on 2012.

Like the Bears, Manly faced being killed off and News forced the 2 clubs into a merge that neither wanted. Without the merge, Norths were gone, with the merge, they managed to survive as part of the Northern Eagles for 2 more years. Norths were no worse off in the merge (and the result) than they would have otherwise been. News Ltd were adamant that they were going to kill off some ARL clubs unless they agreed to merge. The merge should never have happened but Manly cannot be blamed. Manly were always going to look out for their own best interests, just as the Bears were going to do. I agree that Norths should have been allowed to relocate and stay but Manly had no say in that.

Absolutely loving watching this debacle unfold, here's hoping there's plenty more to come. Sue the scumbags Des, nothing like a good court case to derail a season

Aaaah Melbourne... Such a shit club. How did you guys manage to lose 40 to 0 while being at least a million dollars over the cap?

You can sit back and giggle away all you like at the geniused Manly administration, but the fact is Manly still have the wood on Melbourne, big time.

Parra have more juniors than they can ever offer contracts to. Hodkinson wasn't poached, he was offered a contract at a time when he wasn't being offered a contract at Parra. Same goes for several other ex-Parra players that are now premiership winners at manly. David Williams was working behind a bar and contemplating giving footy away when Manly offered him a contract. Are you going to accuse Manly of poaching him too?

Hodkinson was offered 100k a year straight from Parra's Toyota Cup team. If that's not poached I don't know what is. Tony Williams the same only he was offered more

Are you talking about Onslow? he was the knights in 1995 before he went to the dogs...

Get the facts right.

Peter Mulholland joins NRL Knights

Former Western Reds coach Peter Mulholland will join Wayne Bennett at Newcastle next season, after being appointed as the NRL coach's recruitment manager.

Mulholland has been serving as Canterbury's recruitment boss since 2008, but will link with the Knights for the beginning of the pre-season.

How is it, that a Football club can go from winning a Premiership to sacking its Coach a month and a half later? It seems Manlys petty, grubby acts are not just reserved to the footy field.

Des, take my advice and don't look back.

I'm sure this has been mentioned earlier in the thread, but can someone help me out- which Manly players have the out clauses?

Both the Stewarts, Watmough and Foran as far as I'm aware. I highly doubt any of them will leave though, but it doesn't stop Manly fans getting their panties in a knot
