Manly don't want Hasler in 2012

Wow. Manly falling Magpies style to a club who wouldnt know what a junior looked like. Throw is Easts and you'd have the perfect feeding frenzy!

Manly's board is f*ked. They have handled this with all the ego and carelessness that Qantas did last week. That is the problem. One can understand loyalty to the coach, but unless you are addicted to the taste of your coaches sperm like Darius Boyd, there also has to be an element of club loyalty. Put this way - the future legend status that Lyon, Watmough, Matai, Kite, Ballin and the Stewarts has at Manly has to have value. I would be shocked if any of them left Manly before the pension topup years.

That said, what is it with Canterbury's addiction to Manly halves ffs? And more importantly, what loyalty will Canterbury get? Cleal is as loyal as Charmayne Pavlisi's vagina. Dymock and the existing coaching staff have been given a use by date, and while it's normal for coaches to come with staff, it's not normal to say to an incumbent that whatever success you bring will amount to nothing.IMHO neither board has invested in loyalty.

Back to Manly. Any club that thought it was a good idea to poach John Ribot deserves the curse of the dead. Damn shame Manly fans that you cannot enjoy this premiership. Then again, Wests never got their shot again after Arko called.

This will not break Manly as much as it wont make canterbury. There is not a premiership for either of them, but Manly's future looks bleak.

Suggest you get ready to be shocked

On Lyon, my recollection is that his fallout with Smith came after he copped the blame for a woeful defensive effort in the season opener against the Dogs - opposing a debutant centre called Sonny Bill Williams. I recall Daniel Wagon coming out of the line consantly and exposing Lyon on the line often enough for the Dogs to rack up 40 points. Fitzy went ballistic - Smith was beginning his second year of his extention and failing dismally. Smith in turn blamed Lyon. Lyon walked out - ironically like SBW did years later, and ironically like Gordon Tallis did to Smith years earlier. I don't remember anything about a miscarriage, but it could be true.

Friggin' carbon tax. Ruined Manly. Oh wait, that is a good thing. Woo hoo Carbon Tax!*

*Not really a tax but hey, facts have no place here.

Lolz at you and Kite.

Kite is average at best and fluked a Churchill.

Where are the Stewart brothers from?

The comment on Kite was not any incinuation on his playing ability, genius.

I was simply naming another player that Manly bought from the Dragons to double the huge number of players you can have a little cry about Manly buying.

As for the Stewart's -:lol::lol: How many games did they play for the Dragons????? What POSSIBLE relevance can that have to your stupid argument about Manly buying players from other clubs? Shit they lived in the area so they are rightfully Dragons players right?

It doesn't take a genius to infer that one thing led to the other. Why else would one of the brightest young prospects in the game just decide out of the blue that he doesn't want to play anymore?

Believe what you like though fella. By the way can you find anything remotely resembling proof that Manly poached him from Parra? Particularly stating, as you claimed, that it happened while having 3 years remaining of his Parra contract, and not 2 and half years after he left the Eels. Would love to see it.

He left Parra after round 1, does that constitute half a season?

Read what I wrote about Crusher and his relationship with him. That is fact, while your just assuming things

Jeez this thread disintegrated into a bitchfest pretty quickly. The usual suspects on both sides of the coin getting their panties in a twist. Makes for an entertaining read before bedtime.

So it seems the Manly club are fighting fire with fire - we all know Des will be doing his best to take his support staff (including players) with him in order to make his new job easier. If there is proof, and it is in breach of a clause in his contract, then fuggim - if he wants to do this shit then he needs to be prepared to deal with the consequences. As a loyal supporter I say declare war on the traitorous old coot - he is hurting the club, no argument, and is now enemy and must be treated as such.

Yes the board forced his hand and had they never treated him poorly then this would never have happened. Des is, however, responsible for his actions. And his actions since the GF victory have, in my opinion, been pretty bloody poor. It pains me to say this because I've always been a HUGE supporter of him, but Des - please f**k off.

And Timmah or whoever it was talking about Manly fans blaming the Doggies - I think you're being overly sensitive - the impression I get is that Manly fans are far angrier at the incompetence of the Manly board and the pettiness of Des than they are at the opportunism of the Dogs. Having said that, f**k the Dogs as well!

Is Des going to remain living in Collaroy Basin? Cos I think the local reception of him, particularly from the more feral in the community, will be far icier than it has been over the last few years. From hero to zero. You made your bed Desmond, hope it's comfortable.

The Canterbury Sea Dogs. It's downright embarrassing having to stoop to the level of completely piliging and ransacking a club because you can't build anything off your own bat (in 2002 they did it by rorting the salary cap.) All these desperate Dogs fans salivating over the prospect of Foran is hard to stomach.

When Manly bought players in the 1970s everyone rightfully hated them. Canterbury are piliging the coach, support staff and players. Pathetic. If I was a Dogs supporter I'd be humiliated by the whole thing.

I assume the Bulldogs jerseys for 2013 will have the Sea Eagles crest on them. Bred, not bought, what a joke LOL.

I find this incredible that a club can disintegrate so quickly after a GF win.

The Manly board had every right to terminate Hasler's contract - the guy signed with a new club knowing that he still had 12 months to lead a team...a definite "conflict of interest" but in saying that they should have sorted this out when it first happened and not now.

If the board have terminated his contract because of serious misconduct then they would need to have strong examples to make this decision or this could get very ugly if Hasler has every right to lodge a personal grievance exterally.

word is the Stewart brothers convinced Des to take up his option for 2012 and he did so
looks like a player or staff member went to Penn or board member to tell that Des was up to mischief (all speculation ) but sounds right

also I wouldnt be surprised if Des was in young Hoppas ear telling him earlier this year he wouldnt be at Manly in 2014

Would it be appropriate to call this karma for the grubby play and undeserved premiership of this year?

I guess it all adds up to a situation where its possible to be feeling almost sorry for Manly. GF winners should not be imploding a month later. But it is Manly....

Just when I was having a little chuckle about a club being run worse than mine, my club goes and signs Robert Lui and makes Manly look settled and stable.

out of curiosity how is Des taking support staff with him any different to what a lot of other coaches do? pretty sure bennett has taken people with him to saints and now again to newcastle (and i'm not talking just players).

the only difference in that regard i can see is how far away it is. The board had to look for a reason to issue a breach -they cant afford to pay him out

Question to some deliquint Manly fans, why are you guys writing it as De$ and Ha$ler if he actually went to the Dogs for lesser money then what was on offer at Manly? Petty much? It's always someone elses fault isn't it?!
