How was insanity compared to ME2? The derelict reaper ship and Shadow Broker fight vs the annoying Asari were hard as f**k but the rest was tame.

I don't know whether playing MP has made me a better player or what, but I found insanity in ME2 harder. Pretty much breezed through my Insanity playthrough in ME3, whereas in ME2, i struggled big time. I did it with Infiltrator in ME3 (maybe that made it easier?).

IIRC in ME2 on insanity, they would just add additional layers of protection for the enemies (i.e. those mech dogs would have armour instead of just regular health), whereas iirc they didn't do that for ME3 insanity.

Although I was pretty mediocre when I played ME2 and had no idea of things like biotic explosions etc. I actually want to give insanity on ME2 another go to see how hard I find it now.

I found ME3 on insanity alot easier for the same reason, the enemies didn't get extra layers of armor, all they did was spam grenades which were easy enough to avoid as long as you paid attention.

I can't imagine how ME3 on insanity would be easier than ME2 on insanity.
I beat ME2 on hardcore mode a week or two before I got ME3, I first played through ME3 on normal for conventional gaming purposes and I found the massive difficulty spikes to be far beyond anything in hardcore ME2.

Case in point, I've seen several people on forums literally driven insane by a certain late-game boss fight and another particular clash, both of which had me on the edge of my seat.

If you are wondering why I haven't done Insanity yet it's because I can't be bothered now that I have ME3.
Although beating ME2 on Insanity is all I need to do to get my second Platinum trophy so I think I might

I assume you're talking about Kai Leng, the hardest part about that fight was the last portion when the two phantoms come out, as long as you kill them two quickly the fight is easier, admittedly that is easier said than done, but it is definitely doable.

The next hardest after that is the last battle on earth, where I shit you not I had about 6 brutes all cramped into a little store I had taken cover in, and after taking them out I pretty much legged it through the middle of three banshees ( which apparently don't stop spawning, by the way, I had already taken down four of them) and a shit load of Marauders and hit the switch to launch the missiles. Again it is hard, it's insanity of course it's going to be hard, but it's doable if you're smart, and take full advantage of you and your team mates powers.

I have only played ME2 and never really invested in the series, but i was interested in the sh*tstorm about the ending and have read lots of theories.

Anyone checked out that video? If the author is correct, then BW may have pulled the biggest mindf*ck on its players in the history of videogames. I hope it is just because i think that'd be awesome, but my cynicism towards EA says no

Saw a bit of it. Interesting, doesn't change that Bioware royally screwed up the ending. They were heading down the Dark Energy path then changed direction.

Anyway, I'm still playing through my characters, but ending after the Kai Leng fight. At least until they release the ending DLC.

Gotta admit though the multiplay portion is actually quite fun. Really like playing different characters. Still a couple I can't unlock. I can solo silver with a Kroguard.
Still can't Solo Gold yet.

I didn't mind the extended endings tbh. I still loathe the whole Star child concept they came up with. Felt out of place and made no sense at all.

But ignoring that as best as possible and just destroying the Reapers, as it should have been, the ending isn't so bad.

They did make an attempt to show the consequences of actions along the way. Obviously no where near in the class of CD project Red and the Witcher games, but they tried.

i liked the extended cut. filled a few plot holes, gave an insight as to where the galaxy was headed post ending. not perfect. but alright

I guess the new ending was better, still feels like the whole Star Child and his solution thing comes out of nowhere.
Was an excuse to finish my Insanity play through, so that was fun. Stupid boss fight was painful.

BUMP!

I just finished this, a year too late but hey, I have a massive backlog of games.

I thought it was amazing start to finish. One of the best games and best series' i've ever played. In a couple of months I'm gonna do another trilogy playthrough with all DLC I think.

I am one of the few that liked the ending, though I had the benefit of the extended ending clearing up a few of the odd plotholes...

... like How did your crew get in the Normandy/Why was Joker running, and the Relays violently exploding.

So yeah, there are a lot of valid criticisms of the execution of the ending, and I can understand the argument that your choices as a whole don't really influence the ending, though it doesn't bother me personally.

But as a concept, I really liked it and felt it was a satisfying conclusion to an amazing story. It wasn't some magical 'God Child' or whatever. It was an AI. It was created to solve the problem of synthetics wiping out organic life. But its solution obviously was to rise against its creators and wipe them out, turning them into the first Reaper and starting the cycle. It concluded that harvesting high level organics capable of creating synthetics would prevent the complete extinction of ALL organics. Shepards efforts break the cycle.

Loved every moment of this series and can't wait to do it again.

They f**ked the ending up big time. The added dialogue helped it a little bit but after 3 games it was so unsatisfying to sit through and watch.

I really wish EA/Bioware had have just falsely claimed credit for the indoctrination theory and been done with it.

If i'd seen the original ending first up, where the relays all explode (taking out most of civilisation with it) so you're left to assume that the entire galactic fleet is stuck on Earth, yet somehow the Normandy pissed off to random forest planet... I'd probably have hated it. Total derp by the writers there.

But the AI-reaper-god concept, I liked. I didn't feel it was entirely out of the blue, either.
-The Citadel was always something more than what it was used for... ME2 demonstrated that it was hiding far deeper secrets and was part of the reaper plot.

-Early in the game someone (I think it was the Prothean VI? or maybe someone Cerberus) said that the Reapers were likely not the masters of the cycle.. they were merely instruments

-The Reapers had to have a story behind them, not just be left as 'unexplained galactic threat'. Laaame.

-I thought the concept of wiping out high level life to preserve all life was an interesting concept both morally and narratively, and the final choices offered to end the cycle were thought-provoking. I had to weight up what my Shepard stands for, despite the endings not really taking into account the rest of the series. Journey rather than the destination and all that shit.

Also soz for the year late bump

And the indoctrination theory is a million times lamer than a souffs premiership challenge. imo.

The indoctrination theory was awesome relative to the crappy ending in how it was written and how it was executed and if you believe it then it fills in the vast majority of the holes that was present in the ending it's just a shame it was a desperate attempt to make sense of the ending and make it credible.

Captain Anderson appearing from out of nowhere was a laugh.
