Yep, upsets are what make our game so great.
A goal kicker would have helped a lot though. Why this is not our first priority is beyond baffling.
Maguire would be as fully aware as the rest of us that we need a goal kicker but what we don't want is for him to sign on a player just for his goal kicking ability who is not a good fit in other areas.

Since we're no hope of being top 4 this year I reckon that Madge is being patient waiting for the right player to come on the market or, as OTT mentioned, maybe he thinks that Momo will take on the goal kicking duties next year.

Maguire is exactly the type of coach that we needed [especially after the players having to endure that sneeringly whiny bitch Jason Taylor and the turncoat Cleary who lumbered us with some terrible signings]
Madge seems to be very driven to succeed.

Rebuilding and turning a perennial #9 team into a top 4 contender would be huge for his reputation as a coach.

Gee I hope I am wrong but we may be giving back a fair chunk of our for an against in this game...I'm worried.

Yep. I said prior to the Souths game we could be in trouble and we were done. I don't feel as bad about this game but they are going to go at us and they are at full strength. We aren't at full strength and we just had a great win.

I hope we don't wilt under the pressure.

I’m not singling out Madge, we have had this issue for a while, in the last 2 seasons we were 9th, and I am pretty sure we lost at least 2 games each year, because of poor goal kicking, which would of had us in the 8 comfortably.
TBH I can’t remember our last decent goal kicker.

Don't give up hope yet. Parra showed they were soft as butter v Manly, and have a few players with injury clouds. If we show up like we did in the opening exchanges against Brisbane, with Aloiai and Packer leading the way, I give us a shot.

Love your optimism but I just don’t see it. Parra are full strength whilst we have 5 or even 6 if you include Jennings out of our starting 13

Waqa and Jennings up against Mbye and Lawrence is genuinely scary

I just hope we keep the score close as F/A will likely decide a spot in the finals and for the first time in 9 years we actually have a decent one. If we can somehow scratch out a win I’ll go out on a limb and say it guarantees us a finals spot.

We haven’t lost yet.

Tigerm I'd love to have egg on my face late Thursday night....I don't like being wrong and this time I hope I am.

PS. I notice you changed your avatar. I met the champ in 2000 at the Sydney Olympic, spoke for close to 30 minutes. When they say he was one of the greatest sportsmen ever I couldn't argue. You can also add funny to that list....

Brett Hodgson? And I’m feeling quite sad typing this..

Yeah, Muhammad has always been my favourite athlete, that would have been sensational meeting him, were you competing?
I changed because a 26yo scored his first NRL try, some of them never give up, do they

TSP, this could just go a long way in deciding the outcome. Packer and controlled aggression v Brown and his wayward aggression.

Unfortunately Parra have a goal kicker, Tigers have someone who can kick a ball.

A fit and willing Packer is the lion of the den in the entire game and he likes nothing better than dominating more fancied opponents.

We have the tactical, strategic and performance momentum going into this game.

The eels were supposed to beat Manly easily. Something is wrong up there. There’s a cylinder not working.

No one expects us to make the faintest impression.

Time to shock and awe.

I

I hope not. Down on troops and up against some real firepower, this will be a good measure of the team’s resilience, if they can maintain the grit it won’t be a blow out but coming off a huge win usually results in a reality check for most teams.
Yea but getting that feeling of completely one way thrashing a team for the first time also I think is important too.(Don’t know, it just seems logical..)..I just see no flakyness in the halves and 9 ..I’m seeing our 6&7 firing off shots with 2 different games and weapons early on and at speed, with Grant chiming in to upset their game and control and take some control ourselves. . Hopefully a dry track this time..

Agree with all that. However, despite Mbye's constant clutching at thin air in defense and Rowdy's best years being well behind him I pray that their experience will hold us in some good stead at least.

Having a lot of our firepower on the sidelines is a worry though.

And eh, if you don't have optimism being a WT fan it's one depressing-ass existence.

I wouldnt be factoring in Jennings re our starting 13

Rowdy will hold his own tom nite it’s the pathetic left centre I’m concerned about.Worst player in our team yet his the captain.Incomprehensible.

He had a night out last time, he will see the grubs in front of him and by instinct, try to rip their heads off.

He’s an enormous X factor... and don’t get me started on Allo.

The cat was outta line by putting us and his mates down.

I think most of our players want to see him carried off on a stretcher.

Arthur is stupid to play him, trying to rub our noses in it.

A couple of broken limbs and a fractured eye socket should suffice for an entre.
