I think it’s winnable. DCE provides so much for them and he’s a bigger loss than any of our guys individually. Obviously our 3 missing are a huge part of what we do but I don’t mind having a couple of bigger bodies in the centres. Both are strong carriers of the ball coming out of our end and can do a job.

We need the forwards to step up which they’ve been doing most of the time for the last couple of months. A big game from Hastings would help a lot too.

It's not as dire as some are making out imo. Our middle is intact which helps and we have a player on each edge (Marz and Lucas) that have been in 1st grade most of the year and a fullback that has shown he's up for it.

If we keep it simple and close off Turbos opportunities we'll get up

Pryce had a 8/10 first game, a 2/10 last game. Wonder how he will go this time!

Will being held back has been hard to gauge the validity of. Cos the argument has been he cannot defend effectively yet. His attack can be a bit wayward.

His defence has been as effective as anyone at his age and experience. He can produce an error but is usually while trying to create. So putting him in when our season is still alive and the pressure is greater, was always going to be a risk.

Not getting carried away on Pryce yet. He was solid on debut, which considering the doubt in the leadup is a success, and then he was very bad against the Raiders. I understand not wanting to be negative about the shiny new toy but if any of the other halves had a game like that everyone would be calling for their head on a stake.

The defence hasn’t been an issue though he hasn’t really been targeted yet either. He’s definitely taking the line on more than the other halves but I don’t think he’s looked particularly threatening when doing so which has been the story in NSW Cup as well.

Was Pryce really that awful on the weekend? I thought he defended really well and looked dangerous running the ball, but yeah made some errors. He's going to make errors, we need to expect them.
No, he wasn't. He had 2-3 errors that looked spectacular so they're getting over stated. The pass to the crowd is still 1 error. He's shown more in 2 games with that included than Cogger has in both parts of his Knights career.

I also think the pass over the sideline wouldn’t have looked as bad if Tuala was aware of the play and ran onto the ball. The play still wasn’t on and the pass wouldn’t have stuck but it wouldn’t have looked as bad.

The forward pass was the worse one IMO.

With that backline, if they make a line break Sharpe needs to cover every manly player as help isn’t arriving in time.

Has Cant played centre at any level? It is such a specialist defensive position.

Not sure Pryce is the answer but he has shown more than Cogger so until Gamble is fit and ready I am happy for him to be 6. When Gamble is back, fit and ready to handle 1st let the Coach decide on that but if Pryce is considered the better option than Gamble we are in a good space

Cant has played some centre in Cup, not sure if ever started or fill in due to injury

To be honest I think most people that have actually watched Pryce prior to debut knows he has a lot of issues with his game. When he debuted he did better than I expected, but I didn’t see him coming into grade as a boom player that’s going to change our fortunes. The one thing I’ll say for Pryce though is that he seems to have a legitimately decent kicking game compared to our other halves. Not saying it’s brilliant but he can at least get a bit of distance there.

To me if we’re still a finals hope when Gamble gets back I’d be surprised if Pryce keeps his spot.

What? So noone 2-17 is capable of making cover tackles?

Weird take

This team is the result of Qld getting destroyed in game 2 and Latrell playing his usual games to injury ratio. Our three best players all selected for Origin and a makeshift backline against a side with enormous pace.

Wish we would let Pryce kick more. Hastings kicking was vomitesque.
Before he got injured KP was starting to take on more of the general kicking too. Once he gets more game time under his belt we might see them revert to that plan which would hopefully mean less of those nothing Hastings kicks.
