When you look at the results from R1, and while it sucks to lose, our result wasn't too bad.
Their backs were a bit better and that's where they got us, imo.
Plus, we had half our spine out.
Back to full strength this week.
We've got this. Us by 20+

I love the confidence. We have a team to win games. The question is do we have the coaching staff to get the most out of this squad.

For anyone here feeling confident i shall refer you all to the some of our documented commandments.

1.Thou shall not win when considered favourites

4.Thou shall play a struggling team into form

5.Thou shall provide a winless team their 1st victory

Stay tuned for 6700 parra set restarts and 2 Weststigers sin bins. This game will decide if we are indeed a better side this year and have unlocked the shackles of our cultural loser mentality OR are we finally turning things around?

8. Wherein on the fifth tackle, preferably in a key moment in the game, where thy kicker has jagged the ball and seeks to kick, thou shall fastidiously and without fail, ignore all open spaces downtown and promptly

a) kick the ball to their fullback ensuring an easy catch with no pressure or

b) kick the ball out on the full as hard as thy can or

c) Drop the ball forward onto the ground or

e) kick thy ball too deep and over the in goal.

Thereafter thou kicker shall be subject to pats of commiseration from assembled colleagues located within proximity, featuring sheepish smiles.

The Eels were horrible yesterday however I'm not convinced we would have fared any better against Melbourne. They'll be smarting, back at home and despite what we think their fans will have circled this one as a win when the draw was released.

With Api, Bula and Toa all due back theres no excuses for us this week. If we lose this unfortunately its season over by round 2 and Benji should be punted immediately.

I'm tipping us but these pricks have given us no confidence whatsoever.

I might put 500 bucks on parra. Either way I can't lose. ;)

Taylan update @Kilkenny, she wasn’t at court on time.

Something we speculated about yesterday.

The magistrate is Corry, very experienced. Good name, supposed to be fair. I heard he’s regularly at that court, so they haven’t parachuted anyone in.

What does everyone think the season being over as? Missing the 8?

That's going to he massive stretch considering we have a completely new team, a very limited off season with rep duties and injuries to key players, and to be polite - questionable coaching. In addition, it's not like we're in a rebuild like easts where they have been successful for so long. We're coming from as far back as you can get. Well, maybe not parra and their 6 consecutive spoons of the 50s.

For me, success would be to win 8 or more games, and for the last 8 rounds show consistent and effective structures in defence and attack. In attack, I mostly mean when we hit the red zone.

Anything less than that and I'd be showing Marshall the door. I never would have hired him in the first place but you can't turn back time.

5 wins from our next 10 games is a pass mark. Starting with beating Parra without Moses.

I reckon we should make the 8. I don't know where you draw the line when it comes to sacking Benji. I'd be subjective but I expect this team to have good defense and be able to attack.

I want Benji to succeed but we haven't seen the team look well coached since he has been a key part of the coaching team.

If a coach came on the market who we wanted and would sign, say a Bellamy (I know this is a massive pipe dream) I'd punt Marshall immediately. Otherwise I'd give him time. This is his 1st year of having a relatively good roster.

I don't think there's a heap of replacements screaming out to be signed. Maybe Holbrook. Happy to be reminded of better candidates.

I just don't want to sack him with someone who won't do better, considering it will cost the club plenty. Money that can be spent on juniors or junior coaches

I think we will need to wait for a few more matches to disturb the markets conclusions of 10th to 13th although it was based on our halves being operational instead of being dysfunctional.

I said it last year, if we lose next weekend, I’m more than happy for Benji to avail himself of a coach whisperer to confide in.

Otherwise he’s still surrounded by mates, the idolisation of sheens and occasional call to Bennett.

10 to 1 he’s ringing Sheensy up for insights and feedback.

Just FYI Madge and Gus are friendly.

In past years, we’ve seen players stagnate or go backwards. That’s when the going gets really rough. We can’t really tell yet, other than our instincts and who can blame us for our despondency.

The panel here was pretty balanced on prospects this year.
