This!!!

From an outsider looking in, Wests are being let down by the so called experienced players.
Klemmer, Bateman and Sezer need to be better. The Kids cant do everything, but they sure are out shining the veterans.
The so called old hands should hand over their pay packets. They have been nothing but shit all season. And that's when they have been on the field

Just trying to press too many plays, the rabbits have had a lot of ball today and we have helped them along with trying to force the impossible play. Guys need to realise that the way to win is to play percentage footy. They’ve shown glimpses of good footy but our defence needs some proper work. Even when we’re obviously beaten we try force a play. This shit kills me. These coaches must see what’s going on, I’m no footy expert but it seems pretty obvious from outside what’s going on. I’d be making John Morris watch every Penrith game since Ivan Cleary got back and tear apart their defensive systems and develop our boys along the same lines. When there’s a formula that works you adopt it and adapt it to get better.
So Ivan wasn't the problem for you guys last few years ... lolz

Today it was talented inexperience and there's only one way to cure that. The season's been done for quite awhile so I'm fully supportive of continuing on with these young guys regardless of rhe results. I noticed from the beginning of the season that the refs and judiciary have had a bullseye on Sezer...for whatever reason he's definitely not a favourite of their's. I've been hugely dissappinted in Bateman and i really hope his rumored SL signing is locked in...totally nonplussed at losing Paps and the probability of losing Steph..Klem does what he can at this stage of his career but Is taking up a spot.

Sorry mate it’s been the narrative for a long time with your mob , looks like it’s at an end with your club results of late

The Ivan thing tapered out when Madge left. The crimes of Ivan were valid and your mob would have been pissed just as much and for probably longer if you signed a sacked coach from the scrapheap only for him to cripple your cap with expensive longterm liabilities then walk away from the responsibility. As for the present the only comments here about Ivan have been to give him credit for your success...you're a couple of years late with that one I think

Besides his absolutely treachery when he left us in the lurch and ruining our cap? He went to Penrith and grabbed a good bunch of kids that had been brought up in a good system but he and his team of coaches have definitely done a good job, have good systems in place, and as a result they have excellent succession, not unlike the broncos, raiders (of old), Melbourne. Hard to argue with premierships.

Their defensive structures and systems serve them well

Agree, I don't really see the point of continuing with players that they are looking to get rid of. Bateman, Klem, Papi are not offering much and just soaking up salary cap, I'd still keep Sezer in cup as a backup option, if need be, and I'm not that fussed on Stef, he's way too inconsistent for the money he thinks he's worth.

You can't get FG experience without doing it in FG.

I think results show that we deserve the spoon again, but I don't think our effort in a lot of those games did.

I don't expect miracles next year, but I hope there are signs of things to come for the '26 season.

I reckon Laulilii stuffed up on his own but he had plenty of good moments as well. He'll get plenty of chances but next year we have Turuva, Staines, To'a, Olam and Doueihi in the outside backs.

Staines was good. It was good to see him make a bust on the kick return and score a good try. I like him.

The three brothers are looking good. They are all different players as well. Sione up the middle, Samuela on the edge and Latu ball playing. They add a lot to our team.
I just watched it again Tiger and as you said Luke's stuff ups were self inflicted and it was because of trying really hard but the Bula pass was untimely and awkwardly high and Luke was looking into the sun. Still a more experienced player probably would've caught it.
It's a better problem for the team to die trying and not the other way around like last week.
More brain explosions from Bateman will see him dropped imo.

Apparently Sezer has been hit with a 2 game suspension for doing exactly the same thing he got 4 weeks for, not that long ago.
Hopefully someone can make sense of it.

I feel for you guys.
Results might not show it, but I really don't think you're that far off.

As others have pointed out you have some dead wood to get rid of - Bateman being top of the list IMHO.
I don't seem him being dropped any time soon, unfortunately, as he's your captain with Api out.

You've got some promising forwards coming through but need some starch up front.
There's no real enforcer amongst your pack, which I think is killing you.
Time and again yesterday you were conceding 60-70 metres in a set with the Rabbitohs doing it with ease.
You just can't hope to compete when you defend like that.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but that's what I'd be looking at - one or two beasts up front.
Sort that out and you'll improve pretty quickly.

I also agree you should let Stefano walk.
He's the most promising prop to come through your ranks since Aaron Woods so... wait... what?
'nuff said...

Anyway, I reckon you guys will avoid the spoon.
It's a two way shoot out between you and the Eels and you have more winnable games than them.
I can see you jagging a couple.
And the Eels without Moses, as we've seen, have got nothing.

Oh and, as always, keep your hands off Royce!

Thanks for your well thought out opinions DJDL. Most of the time visitors only come here to gloat or troll.

I'd be interested in an outsiders opinion of Bula. He's obviously got all the potential in the world but has a penchant of handing kick returns off to others when he could just as easily do the work himself. Personally, I'm not sold on him and think he could turn to be another Brooks, who we pay extremely well for a decade but never delivers results consistently.

What are your thoughts on him?

And would have only got a fine for the same charge if playing Origin. There must be no risk of injury in rep games.

Im a believer in Bula. What I like about him is that he does the basics of fullback play extremely well. That alone is good enough for us to persevere with him. In attack though......I don't think he has progressed. In saying that, there is not much around him to play off.
I think he'll be okay for us.

He has a mistake in him, but he’s a real talent. If you hold onto him, the Fainu boys, Galvin and a few other young guns you can have some patience with him.

Our problem with the forward enforcers is we look to sign a pack leader but end up signing a player with a big rep whose legs are gone and pay them like they’re in their prime. Tim Grant. Packer. Matulino. Tamou. Klemmer. I was hoping Stef could fill that role but he’s already mentally gone.

I took more positives than negatives out of that game. It felt like we lost it more then souths won it. Not much to say that hasn’t been covered. Young good = good. Klemmer, Bateman, Doueihi, Sezer = bad.

and just side note on Jye Gray, you’re a coward and next time I hope your ankle is f*#king broken.

He does......but when you are in a team in 17th place, you'll get a lot of traffic your way.

I do go into games knowing that Bula will be fairly safe in defence. He is not Tyrell Sloan where Saints fans would virtually shit themselves at times.

Klemmer and Bateman are on decent dollars and we'd be better off without them here. Sezer wouldn't be on a lot but we are better off running with Latu and Galvin. I'd even have Sullivan ahead of Sezer.

Doueihi actually made his tackles the other day and that to me means he might find a role somewhere in the team but I'd move him into Bateman's role and see how he goes.

Agree with all of this.

But not this.
It's a bit harsh wishing serious injury on anyone.
