The principles of AOB’s drag it into the gutter ethos are all well and good except this football side thinks that is their ceiling. And will continue to until he learns to open up the shoulders . Interestingly though, his style does seem to work against the Panthers. Our last three efforts against them have been pretty solid without yielding any results. and therein is our problem. We seem to be ok with effort as the yardstick and somehow hope we will win. Our performances against the top two sides in this comp have been close to our best and somehow that leaves us against lesser teams.
I think a side like abrisbane would be perfect for Adam. They can learn to play his style of conservative hi completion and low risk, but have the skill and talent to nail the big moments. And you can see his style comes up short in a team without that level of talent. It does not work for us. But I also think he will coach another NRL club after us and likely do better. The Storm rinse and repeat coaching is there for all to see. I suspect Parra will be very similar under Ryies, the big difference being they have Moses to create the chances.

Crossland going off for the HIA was what killed us. Meant AOB was forced to play Cogger. I'm of the firm belief that if Crossland didn't have to go off, then Cogger would have spent the 80 riding the pine, which is where he belongs
How Yeo wasn't binned for that hit was criminal. I'm still pissed off at the hugely 1 sided officiating

Glad this got mentioned. Smith and Cronk fanboying Penrith was nauseating. Them trying to make an issue out of Tago’s clear knock on in 1st half was an example.
I was driving so had Luke Lewis on ABC. It was torture.

We scored two tries and one of them was off a pass that was half a metre forward if we're being generous.
To’o to Tago in the 1st half was half a metre forward as well.

Yeo should’ve been binned. It wasn’t what cost us the game though. Poor 5th tackle options from Gamble (who was really good otherwise) was the difference.

On the positive note we took on 3 time Premiers with one of if not the worst spine in the comp and almost won
At no point in the game did it feel like we were actually going to win. I felt like we were doing well just staying in the fight. It always felt like Penrith had an extra gear in them while we were always playing on a knife's edge and half a step from shooting ourselves in the foot. That's how it ended up as Cleary decided to win the game and Gamble's composure let him down. Still super proud of the effort from the boys.

What did you guys think of Cant? Looks like he has some speed and footwork about him. Has ticker and wasn't a liability in defense. It's such a pity he is so small. Does he have a future in first grade? Could he develop into a Cotter or Liam Martin? Or is he a Reegan Tanner?

The difficulty for a team that isn’t used to being at the top is keeping the intensity displayed yesterday. It was a great effort and you nearly won, but what about when you play the easier teams? It is really hard to maintain intensity over a full season. Getting up for the top four is easy, it’s playing the Tigers away on a rainy Thursday night that is hard.

The Panthers don’t get easy games any more. Every team wants to beat us, understandably and we have had our pants pulled down a few times by teams that on paper, we should have flogged. It has helped us though. We very rarely get flogged because our effort is pretty consistent, but it does mean the wear and tear on players starts to drag us down. We started the year so flat, I am surprised we are where we are.

It takes time to build that resilience and you need luck with injuries. Yesterday KP looked busted, he is brave as they come, but he was bumped in tackles like the Cleary try. Maybe a back injury and he is being needled up so it gets worse as the game goes on. If he was fit, he can ice the game breaking moments. Yesterday he had the support and the effort. He just wasn’t fit enough to provide the finesse.
