2022 we lost 5 on the bounce before knocking over the eels on Easter Monday via a Jackson Hastings field goal.

2023 we lost 7 on the bounce before grinding out a win vs Penrith in the rain in Dubbo.
Cheers marshy, gee 2022 hey, where did my life go. I remember that Dubbo game, but nothing much in between :)

He was always a very good ball runner but had fairly low football iq. Working with guys like Turuva and Luai has addressed this.
To'a had huge raps on him at Newcastle with an impressive highlights reel. Since he's been with us he's been inconsistent and just when he looks like it's going to happen, he gets injured and injured again.
Now that he fit and stringing some games together he's playing well.
Atm, he's up there in the DM centres.

Im massively happy with that result. After a week with the Galvin situation and the Parra game, we simply needed to turn up with the right headspace.....fortunately we did. If we lost today, I'd still be happy with the effort we put in. It was a game we deserved to win.....but in all honesty, could and should have lost it. Fortunately, the Sharks didn't turn with their "A" game,

A few notes

Galvin: He had a good first half I thought.....ball movement with him in the team is a lot cleaner than last week. Defensively, a mixed bag though. He made a cracker of a tackle to ultimately save our bacon. He IS our best option, move forward with him.

To'a: Before this season, he has had one good game (against Souths) and one great game (against NQ) for us. He has easily eclipsed that and is our number one centre going forward. Great to see him go well as he looked good at Newie in patches before coming here.

Doueihi: Never been a big fan of the bloke's form at the club but he has won me over this year. Im so glad for him. Im still not convinced he keeps the spot for the season but he certainly keeps it for now.

May: As good as this guy is, I think we need to protect him from himself and look to rest the guy when we can. We are ridiculously lucky to have him at our club.

In my opinion he hasn't done enough for us but my expectations are high. He is a quality player. He has been good as well. I just want to see him more involved. He is our best half. I feel he is still letting Galvin take the last play too often.
I agree with this. Off-field and team culture wise, he has been awesome. On field, I expect more than what we are getting from him at the moment.

I think prior criticisms of him were justified.......the man had two decent games for the club prior to this season. All credit to him though......he is our best centre and is in great form.

The next question is where does Toa rank as a centre. Last I heard the Toa /Turuva combo was 2nd in the comp..

Really? Toa performed at the level hes at now before those 2 arrived, granted not as often but he was injured..Turuvas now reaping the rewards

He wouldn't come off. :)
He stays on if he is performing imo.
Could be different in rep rds though.
Agree with Api being rested. DaSilva needed to develop more in the NRL and that is happening now.
He'll be our number 1 hooker in a couple of years as we have another coming through in Haywood to duplicate this scenario.

It was pretty clear early on that the game plan early was giving Toa as much ball as possible to create a one on one against Hiroti and it was paying off. Toa has that x factor in his game.

I prefer Latu. Galvin is a hog and he is taking plays that Luai should be making. We are a much better team when Luai is taking more of the late tackle plays. His kicking game is a lot more accurate.

I said at the start of the year To'a was our best centre and it wasn't close. Stef and Galvin have been massively overrated whereas To'a gets the opposite treatment.

I think To'a is one of the form centres in the comp.

The reason Galvin has the shitesters is he's a predominantly left hand field player and is having a dummy spit.
Joey Johns adapted naturally at the highest level and could pass and play left and right and inside out.
If you can't be as effective on both sides of the field at the highest level then LG shouldn't be earning marquee money, in fact no half-five eight should be, it's absurd.
I agree with you on Latu.
Whilst he has slightly different attributes to LG, he can play both sides and even at dummy half which he was very good at in the world cup. He would play well with DaSilva.
I just hope he remains focused and committed until the LG crap gets sorted.
If we end up staying with Latu, I bet you we resign AD to play outside of him. Don't shoot me but I called it last year remember and again in preseason and look what happened. :)

Just watching the replay.
The sharks player who hit Luai high, gets 10 mins in the bin and Luai gets 15 mins for HIA.
Doesn’t make sense.
Yes I thought the same, definitely an odd situation or a flaw in our game, some will argue you still have 13 on the park. Then when Pole got binned virtually for nothing the Sharks I believe player didn't do the HIA.
This head contact crackdown is getting out of hand and determining results and ruining the game.
