It may only weaken one position...Id prefer to see Talau have some time at centre imo he’s a natural. Under the circumstances tho I’m not that fussed. It’ll be good to see if Hoffman is any good I’ve heard he is...prob best to let him start in his favoured centre position. But you know Madge is selecting so ?????????!!!!!!

Capable players under the high ball are pretty short supply for us. Talau has done well there, Penrith opted not to test him. I'd leave him there as wingers have a pretty important role both defensively and offensively in a team now. Centre is important also but I'd refrain from weakening a position to strengthen another especially when Reynolds has a pretty decent kicking game. We'll see what Madge does though.

Talau did take a high ball that he had to reach forward and low and caught it - thought it was against Penrith? anyway ok

Yeah they didn't rain on him all night did they? Anyway my point is he's capable of taking bombs, to the point where I am more confident in him than Jennings.

Id like to go with the least changes this week then:
Bulldogs beat Broncos followed by,
Tigers giving the likes of Hoffman a go v Broncos at Leichhardt Oval in Rd 10 and naturally smash the Broncos.

Talau’s proven for catching the high ball over Hoffman..I get it..Fk Jennings he’s past tense now

Yes but we are taking someone doing a great job in a crucial position to fill another void. All well and good Talau has a good night at centre but what if the kid gets rained on, has a shocker and lets three tries in?

That loss could be a blessing in disguise. It wouldve been nice to get the win but I'd say theyll learn a lot from a tough loss like that as opposed to a tight win.

I'd go with:

1. AD
2. Nofa
3. MCK
4. Mbye
5. Talau
6. Reynolds
7. Brooks
8. Aloai
9. Grant
10. Clark
11. Garner
12. LL (Lawrence if injured)
13. Eisenhuth

14. Mikale
15. Packer
16. McIntyre (Seyfarth if injured)
17. Taylor

Logic:
- We don't want a try-athon with Souths, we need to turn this into a good old fashion, low point scoring slugfest
- Souths outside backs are 10x quality of ours, but their middle forwards are pretty average. The above pack could really give it to Souths, thus negating Cook's ability to split us apart through the middle and giving Grant room to setup the few tries we will be able to score.
- MCK is actually very good defensively, he just sucked in that Titans game because it was all shot to hell. If he starts and trains at centre I'm confident he will play well.

We can win this game purely off the back of strong defence

Can’t agree mate. MCK is an absolute liability in defense. I can sort of forgive Huth because he busted his ass all game but MCK was fresh and that missed tackle that led to the Edwards try was pathetic

Debut Hoffman on the wing and put Talau into the centres, partner them with each Mbye/Nofa so they are with an experienced outside back

Talau at centre every day of the week but if Hoffman hasn't played on the wing or isn’t completely comfortable there then - on debut? Could be a disaster. I’m thinking Mbye on the wing against the cowboys second half. That shot of Mbyes leg getting bent looked like 2-3 weeks out to me. I’m sure Madge will come up with some wtf selection likely to as usual not include a debut.

I thought Hoffman was a specialist winger anyway tbh, or I’m probably thinking of Bradley

Anyways the fact Madge has named him in the 21 a couple times should indicate he’s fairly close to getting a gig

My vast knowledge of him extends to the WT website Talau/Hoffman ‘Centre’...I hope he plays definitely. Didn’t see his name listed in the 21 so let’s hope he’s picked. I’ve heard good things and Madge has to be open to new blood. He took too long with Talau. Same last year with Momo.

I would actually prefer if Broncos won this week. Makes us playing them not become a game like the Titans game where we think it will be easy.

I think you've almost nailed the best available side. I would pull Clark out of the 17 and have Mikaele start with Packer and Blore on the bench. Im not sure that CheeKam is up to it but we've got too young a side as it is to justify putting Hoffman in.

Potentially Lawrence should be in the 17 also in place of ET. Mbye is not fit and Lawrence can play left centre potentially if Mbye is not fit

We can win this game purely off the back of strong defence

I agree that Mbye is injured but I think its common for Madge to put injured blokes out there sometimes as an alternative to playing rookies?
