If he plays as well at fullback as he did in the World Cup series, I'd say he will be devastating running off Norman and Hunt. He should be reliable in defence and taking the high ball. Positionally, he will be outstanding.

Widdop to fullback is not a bad move at all, that is if Dufty stays and sorts out his short comings in 2019.

Just a quickie.

If Widdop is such a dud (as you’re alluding), then how is it that he polls very well in the Dally M Medal count on a yearly basis?

What is going to happen to Dufty, after all the talk of him being our fullback in 2019, it looks like he might not be in that spot in 2019.
I don’t see him coming off the bench or getting a spot as a winger. So it is ISP for him.
He has issues with defense but he has that X factor in attack. I would hate to see him leave the club but it would not surprise me if he did.

In all fairness, does any other club want him? Back to you ouryears.

I am not saying that Dufty is a superstar nor hasn’t got downside.

He is a dangerous attacking player, capable of long range trys and some he scored 2018 were down right brilliant; very few players in the comp could have scored the Sharks try’s and saving the day against Canberra and Parramatta.

He had a down period. He was terrible against the dogs late in season and got burnt by Dogs winger Smith badly. I seen him pull off some good last line of defence tackles. He isn’t a ‘bad’ defender nor a great defender.

Also, he lost confidence for a period, he was dodgy under the high ball but generally can catch. Yes he needs to improve in that department. I saw Duges badly drop a few cold when he was our fullback. Then kneel on the ground banging the ball on his forehead indicating ‘oh no what have I done’. BTW not anti Dugan.

I believe Dufty should be at fullback. With Norman, Hunt Widdop somehow in the lineup and staying healthy Dufty with his dash and back up would be amazing. Don’t throw out a player with genuine Xfactor.

Dufty's future is in his own hands. He is contracted to SGI for season 2019 so he should just step up and make the best of the opportunities presented to him in 2019. If he improves and is good enough, SGI will offer him a contract for 2020 and onwards. If he spits the dummy and wants out, then let him go and have Field take his place.

I have a feeling Norman is coming as 5/8 to replace Widdop for 2019. Contracts, words in the media mean very little nowadays so I wouldn't be surprised if Widdop was released sooner rather than later. I hope not but I just think that's where all this is headed leaving Dufty at FB & pressure for his spot(so he lifts)coming from Lomax.
