I can relate to that
The trouble with being old is you cherish that which you have enjoyed from long ago and lament how we ever got to the position we find ourselves in today.
I sometimes wonder how the newbies would react if we had ofcwon from 99 to say 2003 and then fallen into the abyss we now reside in.
Having had no real success makes it easy for the younger ones to make excuses and accept mediocrity.

I remember the 90s fondly. While we didn't win a premiership we were very competitive and made 4 grand finals.
The 2000s we were pretty shit mostly but we played some really entertaining footy.
Now we are just 5 hit ups and kick it down the throat of the fullback.
I want to see some footy. Offloads. Ticker. They look to me like they are trying not to lose mostly.

Why don’t you just answer the legitimate questions you are asked?
I had a ham & cheese sandwich for lunch.

So far re Dufty you have him as the Australian back up FB because the only difference between Dufty & Tedesco according to you is their passing game and in fact you have Dufty in front of him in all other disciplines relating to the position.

What a stupid assertion..

Clearly someone like Tom Trbojevic would be next in line. Did you see his name in any of those error or missed tackle stats above? He is better than Dufty..

Dufty as AUS fullback ahead of Trbojevic?? Lol.. What are you smoking?

And we thought Cooper was talking about the club...

So if Turbo is the next in line for Aussie FB why do you slam people for wanting Dufty in reggies and Turbo in 1st grade in attempt to fix our problems?

I think Tom Turbo will struggle to play many games at fullback for Australia due to Tedesco and Ponga and Tom's versatility. Tedesco is the current fullback and I think Ponga would probably be next in line fullback as Tom can play centre or wing.

Duffy is an enigma no doubt about it. Two rookie errors led to Cowboys tries while he scored one for us and set up another with a great cut out pass. He dropped off two tackles, avoided another one but then brought down a raging JT head on. Crazy inconsistency interspersed with brilliance. Ultimately the question has to be whether he wins more than he loses for us? I just know that I tend to be ultra critical of players in the RedV because I want them to win so badly and I expect so much from them. I know if Dufty went to another club I might worry every time he played against us.

Because changing fullbacks isn’t going to fix our problem.

I thought we had already established that?

So you don’t want any changes in personnel and everything should remain as is?
Heaven forbid that we ever upgraded in a position where we are lacking.

Do you even read the thread, bro?

I see a great team who are mismanaged.

We keep the core of that team together and get a proper coach and we can go far..

I really want Dufty to do well but it's baffling that some can't see his shortcomings. Last week he twice fell badly for dummies as the last line of defence. Not "missed tackles" as such but terrible reads in defence that you'd hope someone is working on with him. Add the two dropped kicks and does a try really make up for it?

This place is so fickle all it will take is one good game and everyone will be talking about how awesome Dufty is.
Look at Ravalawa! He had 1 or 2 good games and he's a lock for everyones starting wing position. 4 weeks ago Ravalawa was the laughingstock.
Dufty can make the 1 spot his own in the next 3 or 4 weeks if he is good enough.
Unfortunately though for him Dragons are going to get pumped tomorrow night and I'm sure it will be all Duftys fault.

Not true, Dufty's problems have been discussed ever since he entered first grade and now after 45 first grade games they have not improved. One good game is not going to change the opinions of most of the posters who see his shortcomings, its going to have to show consistently that he has overcome the deficiencies in his game.

Ravalawa is almost three years younger than Dufty and played 13 first grade games and has shown improvement. He has shortcomings in his game but is showing potential, improving and has natural physicality.

So players like Tedesco and Tuivasa-Sheck who have both missed more tackles and made more mistakes than Dufty..

Is it on and in their own heads too?

Are they not making progress?

They have also made more tackles than Dufty, ran for over 2400m each while Dufty is at 1400m, Tedesco has made 59 tackle breaks, TVS has made 72 and Dufty 45, Tedesco has scored 8 tries, TVS 5 and Dufty 4, Tedesco 5 Try assists, TVS 6 and Dufty 2.

They are almost twice as involved in the game as Dufty.

Indeed..

But people aren’t picking on his game involvement.. They’re picking on his errors and missed tackles.. Which aren’t the problem..

Just imagine the player he could be if he gets himself involved like Tedesco or completes kick returns like Nicholl-Klokstak..

Or the additional errors he could make?!

Ps I’m with you in that we won’t know how good or bad Dufty will end up until he plays under a decent coach.

This is pretty much what I was going to say.

His lack of involvement in attack - it's not due to his deficiencies. It's due to the game plan and the inability to utilize his skills adequately. Does he back up enough? Is he hitting the holes? Is he involving himself in attacking plays enough? I'd say no to all of that. The skillset he adds to the team are not being utilized due to poor attacking structures and game plans.

My concern is that we let him go and he excels somewhere else with a better structure and coaching. Then we'll all be blaming the club for letting him go. I really don't think we can make a call on some of these players given the coaching in place.

Hey man, leave us alone.
I started watching in the 90s and the state of our club kills me.

Not sure where you got 3 years younger?
