I feel sorry for Elliott. He is a square peg in a round hole.

Not having and experienced half or 5/8th didn't help him this year.

I think he got off on the wrong foot with alot of the senior players. He has had a lot of pressure put on him to give young blokes a crack at the big time.

I dont think the lads could say much to the media of much impact.

Best to hang the heads and focus on the week ahead.

Expect a much improved performance.

Cobwebs dusted off now.

i agree fibro i also feel sorry for elliott it must be tough to coach a side when you have no ability to coach. And how dare the fans get upset. He won us a trophy last year. Why teach them to tackle and score tries any coach can do that.

Apparantly Mick Leary has spoken out against Matt Elliot saying he and his staff are on notice.

Yeah right...as if he's going to do that...that would mean he had to admit to making a mistake at hiring him...

Fibro, don't make excuses for that clown.

Last year he had Gower and Wallace, and we finished last.

This year we had both the Williams and Sammut.

His problem isn't the players he has available to him. It's his inept management of them.

I, like copperhead, am missing the sarcasm and wasnt invited to the fuel sniffing party.

Get off the juice Fibro.
Mick, since when did Leary morph into Matthews?
Mob, god almighty if I was Leary I wouldn't give Carney the time of day either.

As Pk Mick it wasn't Leary who hired Elliott it was Matthews, a bloke with no Rugby League credentials.

And if you read between the lines of a discussion that was had earlier (I think in this very thread) the appointment of Leary to the position of Football CEO was done to sideline matthews on the footy side of things.

Elliott has out done himself with team selection this week, it took me all my self control not to hurl the laptop I'm on across the room when I saw the team. Now the anger has subsided and I just feel sick

Too true.

The funny thing is he insists on some combinations that have produced failure time and time and time again that with any other coach they'd be in the Jim Beam Cup.

Seriously, I think that thrashing was a reality check to Matt Elliott in particular and the team he selected this week just proved his stubborness.

When everything is going well, everybody wants to claim a piece of the glory.

As the sun sets everybody wants to point from the shadows.

Hold your nerve my feline friends, you are still in the finals mix.

Unlike some of us who are destined to spend the rest of the year in the cold and unforgiving wilderness. Its cold and lonely here and people are afraid.

So get 100% behind your boys.

Sons and daughters of Penrith, dont blink now.

At first I was horrified when I saw the team, although really its what I expected.
Now however I have a smile across my face and a strange sense of satisfaction. I think this could be it guys, just a few more games and our hell is over!

The team never has any less than 100% of my support when they hit the field but that doesn't mean the coach has to be immune from criticism from me or any other penrith supporter.

Who said the coach had to be immune from criticism?...twas not I.

I shake my head when I see Blair at 5/8, but seriously the team shouldn't be an issue against the Bulldogs, they are woeful every week, we just woeful half the time or so. If they just turn up with the right attitude and desperate to get a win and atone for last week, we'll win no doubt.

The team should be good enough to beat the Bulldogs easily still. But I couldn't see it winning any of the last 3 games.

It amazes me that a bloke who follows the Panthers doesn't know Leary had nothing to do with hiring Elliott.
