McGregor extension

He’s just had his best year at the Dragons and got us within a point of a prelim. Of course he would want to discuss an extension now.

I’d like to think any decision about our future coach won’t commence till late next year but the usual lines get trotted out that the players want to know who the coach will be before they decide their own futures. That’s what Mary’s manager will be saying.

I would like to think the new Board would explore several options to be our coach in 2020. And i’d like to think if Mary wants to be considered one of those options, he should be given a goal to to exceed what the team achieved this year.

That’s a prelim or better.

Losing the vast majority of games in the second half of the season - some by a large margin - is not an indication of a good coach. Not only did this happen this season, it has happen for the past few seasons.

As with horse racing it’s not how you start it’s how you finish the race. McIdiot has led the race only to fall in a heap in the last 100 meters.
Expectations of this being repeated in 2019 will hang over our heads. I doubt we will start next season as we did this season.

Let's not panic just now. Wait to see who is our coach and which players we lose and who we buy.

He's the Jean Van De Velde of the NRL.

We got beaten 40-4 by Parra the wooden spooners and 44-0 by the bulldogs a team vying for the spoon and also well under the cap as they had to let players go.
The way that this board treats the supporters is apalling, even if they are not going to resign him they just drag it out.
People may not like Phill Gould but i bet you McGregor would be gone if he was our CEO.

The Board considers the recommendations of the CEO. So it's more Doust than the Board and Doust was keen on settling factional disputes by brokering deals rather than stnding up for the interests of SGI.

I have my figures crossed that our new CEO will take a different approach and make recommendations to the Board that only in the best interest of SGI.

I hope the club is not even contemplating an extension. McMuppet was not the reason we played the way we did in those finals. He has no clue as evidenced by his reactions during the broncos final. We have a squad that can challenge now he is the stumbling block.

I may get shot down for this but I would I look at Jason ryles moving forward

Yes he is an old boy but he has learnt his apprenticeship under a master unlike our self promoted career coach.

Listening to Ryles talk it’s like he has the Melbourne theory of it starts at the front office which we don’t adhere to hence we are happy limping into the finals.

I read recently where Eddie Jones hired ryles to help out with the English union side and Eddie was astounded at his idesas and actually said Jason was a big part of our achievements.

Just sitting back and thinking and seeing big Rylesy giving his pep talk I can only hope.

Ryles is my least favourite dragons player of all time.
The amount of times he had a brain explosion and lost us the 2 points was incredible. He was a deadset moron of a player.
Having said all that maybe he is a fantastic coach.

If Gould was CEO, Mary would never have been signed.

Straight Shooter

Maybe so.

But I'd like to think our CEO wouldn't sack a coach who's team was in the top 4, then try to hire a coach he sacked a few years earlier, at likely twice the price.

Maybe Bennett would like Ryles as one of his assistants. Ryles and Mary still have two things in common:
  1. Both are old boys.
  2. Mary was a rookie appointment and Ryles would also be a rookie appointment.
No thanks at this stage in the cycle, we need a top grade professional coach.

The spray given when a player gives away a stupid penalty would be ironic.
