How shit would we be without Smith. Every young bat in the country should start valuing their wicket like Smith.

Hads is lost out there

Toughing it out though, so far. Doesn't have to look pretty, if he gets 50 odd it's valuable all the same. Hopefully he keeps going

I hate always talking about it but I wonder how much of this is carry over from Phil Hughes for Hads? He's never struggled against the short ball, this series he looks genuinely afraid of it.

They're all runs in the book. Hopefully he can tough it out and get back into touch.

I can see us getting to 500 and Haddin that elusive big score (over 100) that has evaded him best part of the last 10 months.

We should be set up nicely 45min before stumps on day 2.

My vote is on Haddin never regaining form at test level. Age looks to have got him. Ponting managed to scratch out plenty of test runs after age caught him, but I don't think Haddin is Ponting. Possibly a realisation and a retirement at the end of the summer. The selfless man he is to give them a chance to look at a new keeper in the West Indies.

Smith is a great story. Much maligned youngster to this. Loving it.

Come on Haddin!

Hope he gets a fifty today.

Then if he gets out he has done his job.

He looked better with the bat yesterday.

He was really digging in. He wasn't fluent but at least still not out.

Like Clarke said yesterday Gilchrist set the bar too high.

Clarke said Haddin's keeping is faultless. It's not always about the batting side of a keeper.

Haddin averages 33 which is good. I think anything of an average over 30 is good for a keeper.
