Well I'd pick the 3 more likely to score a 100. So I'd go with Marsh over Watto.

Firstly, average means so much more than outliers (and 12 tons in 13 seasons is the definition of outliers). Secondly, neither belongs as a number 3. Watson is a competent player lower down the order. Marsh is competent nowhere.

I can tolerate Watson in the side at 6 I cannot tolerate him at 3. Marsh sucks too but at least he isn't going to the press basically demanding he bats in the top 3 so he can try and clobber the hard ball.

Watson isn't to blame for saying what he prefers. He has every right to do that. It is up to the blokes getting paid to pick these teams to not f**k up in the same way over and over again.

Maybe I am being too kind to Marsh. 1000. 10000 maybe. Watson has a very good 1st class career, his average as an opener is higher than Rogers. He is a handy bowler. At times in Brisbane he was our best after Hazlewood.

On the other hand you have Marsh who has less 1st class 100s than seasons played in his career. Averaging 36 at 1st class cricket, he isn't even good enough at the level below let alone this level.

Marsh is a better team man than Watson. He is a better fielder than Watson. He is left handed. He bats lower in the order and is more flexible within the order. He has batted more time than Watson in tough situations in games they've played this series, even if he hasn't scored.

There are so many more things than just Bunniesmans opinion that go into a selection. They aren't linked. They will never be linked anywhere but in your vacuous head.

4th fifty in a row for Bucky.

He moves to third place of our run scorers this series behind Warner.

It doesn't help with the perception that he is a selfish princess he puts himself before the team. His correct answer should be "I will bat wherever the team needs me. Just happy to be representing Australia what with my batting average being less than 40"

Marsh a better fielder than Watson? That'll do me.

And what geniuses on here wanted to drop Bucky? 4th consecutive 50.

Its easy to point at the Watson 100s stats, but let's not forget the huge number of 80-90s he accumulated and kept choking at. For a couple of years he was a very solid opener.

Of course he's wasting his time at 3, should be 6.

Lets not forget that Watson is notorious for wasting DRS reviews. Its easy to forget that fact this series

Watson is so pathetic he makes them plant him in the slips, where he is awful. He shied away from the ones Haddin dove for yesterday FFS. Marsh is a solid infielder who shouldn't have been in the slips when he made those drops. Shit Watson can barely move without snapping something, he sure as hell doesn't stop anything more than six inches away from him in the infield and he won't chase it.

Watson has a pretty good pair of hands in the field but he is basically a huge rock with glue on him where the hands are. If the ball goes straight to him it will stick but he has awful lateral movement and is glacier slow in the field.

Also lets not forget he is paid like 4 times the retainer as any other player besides Clarke ? Why who knows.
