Hmm the best view point is from the source it self STGI not St George and not the Steelers. After all STGI won the premiership!
St George are in the joint venture.

Are you saying St George Leagues Club are not allowed to claimed a 16th premiership?

If so, you're too late.

St George Leagues club has every right to claim 15 premierships as a stand alone club and 1 premiership as part of a newly formed joint venture team. They have the responsibility to see the difference between each entity... and they do....
15 + 1 = 15 and 1... not 16....

LOL common Willow I love you mate but the gig is up, its well and truly over. None of you have a leg to stand on, STG is dead...
The team that won the 2010 premiership is STGI their site says STG is dead their site says STGI first season is 1999 hence the magic number is one (1). Go to your clubs site and see for your self dont take my word for it.

What STG lawn bowls club and the Steelers country club say counts for jack.

Does the Leagues Club Journal have a web site. I don't see how directing me to a forum on this site dedicated to dragons fans could be considered evidence that a formal debate is in progress between dragons establishment and NRL statiticians.
Don't panic. The website link is in the thread. Just look down the page.

The image you see above is quite legitimate. Unlike the baroness, I don't misrepresent publications.

Also, what makes the official StGI website invalid?
I wouldn't use the word invalid. Disappointing is a better description. Quite frankly, the site has been disappointing for some time. The club has never had a great understanding of the internet and the website design and content management has always been outsourced. A lot of clubs do the same. It got worst recently when NRL's main sponsor Telstra (via Bigpond) basically took control of running all the NRL club websites.

Are you saying that there is an NRL directive not to dispute the claim that this is their maiden premiership?
I wouldn't be as dramatic as that. We can assume that the NRL run club websites follow the NRL 'official' line.

The Leagues Club Journal is more independent when it comes to editorial and content. As I said, you'll get a better idea of the club's viewpoint there.

For example, the Club Chairman is quoted as saying "the rain literally came down on ANZ Stadium, washing away a 31 year premiership drought"

Am I correct in assuming that you are interested gathering information about the club's viewpoint? Or do you have some other agenda?

Great post mate!
I may not be a major Dragons supporter, but I definitely support you guys; it's the 16th for you guys in my opinion :)

Well I'm all for a firm handshake and a beer. But we have to get to know each other better before we take it further.

Well if you're so sure you've 'won', you can move on now eh? No more pain, no more cold sweats, no more crying whenever you see a Saints supporter celebrating their history, no more angst at the sight of a forum member's sig file.

You must be very relaxed.

It will be interesting to see if you'll be able to maintain the illusion of smugness.

Already explained my views on the site. It's run by the NRL through Telstra/Bigpond.

Again, you post these things like it's some sort of revelation. I already know what the NRL have to say on the matter.

Your response doesn't surprise me.

Again, if you are so sure you have all the answers, then you have nothing to worry about... right...?

I'm interested in seeing where the official debate stands.... I've been unable to find evidence that an official debate exists outside of Dragon's fans opinions....

and it's no revelation, but for the record I believe that the new identity of StGI won it's maiden premiership, but I also agree that for a fan such as yourself a 31 year drought was broken, but even though you've stayed true to your team, the one you follow now is not the same as it was before 1999. The team you follow now did not win the 1979 grand final or the previous 14...

The official dragons site agrees with me.... the NRL agrees with me... rl1908 agrees with me.... rleague.com agrees with me... but Dragons fans dispute this... so where does the official debate stand?

St George are in the joint venture.

Willow - im gonna make this really simple - you know when you make an alloy - and has has at least two different ingredient metals. Then once you have the alloy - it is a whole new substance that is neither original substance. THATS A JOINT VENTURE. St George RLFC NRL NO LONGER EXISTS. License gorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrne. There is no St George first grade. St George RLFC plays as much first grade these days as the Newton Jets.

How about this for a deal...

Dragons fans can celebrate it as if it's their 16th.

While the rest of us can recognise it as their first.

Any problems?

Just a bunch of blokes having some fun whilst waiting for 2011 kick off mate. I get your view point but in the same token I have always seen WT and STGI as new clubs.
I am sure this is not the end of it, after all there is about 95 days till kick off!

Its a bit like raising kids - at some point you have to tell them there is no Santa Claus, no Easter Bunny and no 15 bonus premierships.
