Something i listened to, may have been from very late 80's possibly very early 90's didn't really strike me as a thrash metal album. Can't remember what the album was called off hand, started with an R.. i think.

Will look it up shortly

The album I am referring too is Renwel.. Not sure that is thrash..

But in saying that, I listened to them before 92 so I either relate them to that sound for some reason or, again, I'm a dickhead and I simply farked up.

This is why I try to stick to labeling bands either awesome or f**king awesome only:)

Kreator.....Death Metal? They were one of the pioneers of the thrash movement or are you taking the piss?

Kreator's first few releases (Endless Pain, Flag of Hate and Pleasure to Kill) were very influential on early death/black metal, but at that stage the genres hadn't really separated stylistically. post 1986 they were definitely a pure thrash act.

Agree with 'The Memory Remains' being a f**king shithouse song.

I like quite a few songs from that era - King Nothing, Until it Sleeps, Hero of the Day, Outlaw Torn, Fuel, Devils Dance, Unforgiven II... The Memory Remains stands out as being particularly shit considering it's one of the more played songs from that era.

Memory is a much much better song than fuel IMO.

Fuel is one of the few Metallica songs I really dislike.

I like fuel. But I can see why many Metallica fans wouldn't. Because people who 'like' them will be like oh that's my fav song yet it's far from their best.

All those songs are awesome. Memory is ok but it's one song I don't go out of my way to play it. Like if I'm running through the album and it comes on ill listen but I don't think I've ever said we I need to listen to that song!

King nothing is one of my favs actually

Fuel and The Unforgiven II are the only two really decent songs on ReLoad. Overall it sounds like what it is - an album full of songs that didn't make the cut for Load. Load itself is pretty decent, and I'm sure a lot of people would have loved it were it made by another band. Ultimately it worked, as it won Metallica a new generation of fans.

St. Anger is a mixed bag. A return to a heavier style, with a handful of decent songs (Frantic, St. Anger, Some Kind Of Monster, and The Unnamed Feeling), but woeful production, and no f**king solos. The last was the killer. You can't write 8 minute songs without solos.

Have heard live versions of st anger songs with solos..

Strange they chose to not include them on the album.. Unless they realized later that they needed some and added them for the live shows.

Each to their own.. DM is a quality album, the 4 track ep beyond magnetic is also very good.

S&M is worth watching /listening to as well for something a little different.

S&M is alright, I agree, though I didn't agree with all the song choices. And they're still pretty awesome live.

But there's just a lot more bands around these days that I'd prefer listening to. But around 1988-1990 Metallica ere one of THE bands that my mates and I listed to growing up, so that early stuff is pretty well ingrained in my musical consciousness. The late 80 early 90s produced so many classic thrash and early death metal albums, from that period of about 1986 (probably the pinnacle of thrash, given that Master of Puppets, Reign in Blood, Peace Sells, Pleasure to Kill and Darkness Descends were all released that year) up til around 1992 when the Death Metal scene started to get saturated and boring and the second wave of Black Metal exploded in Norway.
