Agreed mate, but the late '90s is the period I'm talking about where testament changed a fair bit. They are criminally under rated, same with Kreator.

Ahh Kreator.. My introduction to death metal.

Their sound changed a bit over the years..

Then went back to their original sound it seems. Either way, I agree, massively under rated.

I always loved Segression and another band which I'm sure a few of you lads have heard of that i loved in the 90's Allegiance. They were going to be the next big thing, not sure what happened to them though. Damaged were also another one of my favourites, skitz the drummer is absolutley amazing.

Oh and another aussie band i loved as a teenager Armoured Angel

I saw them open for Deicide in 95 at the Phonecian club in Sydney and the drummer/singer absolutley cracked the shiiiiits halfway through the set at the sound guy. Stopped halfway through a song and kicked his snare over. Great band though!!!

Yeah they experimented with a slightly death metal sound, which I loved TBH.

One of my fav songs:

Great band.

Yeah i bought that album with my first pay check when i joined the RAAF and was going through rookies in Adelaide. Most fans hated it but I loved it. One other album that came out at the same time that burns me to this day........ f**king re-load... Sigh. Utter trash. A few of us metal heads were ironing our uniforms one night and on this shitty little clock radio i had, we were listening to MMM Adelaide and they premiered the new 'totally kickass metallica song' from the new album.......... Needless to say all our jaws hit the ground at just how shithouse 'the memory remains' was at the time and were all disgusted at what one of our collective favourite bands had become!

Something i listened to, may have been from very late 80's possibly very early 90's didn't really strike me as a thrash metal album. Can't remember what the album was called off hand, started with an R.. i think.

Will look it up shortly

It's not a bad song live but reload, yeah,a difficult one to like.. Even after all these years i still can't get into that one, St Anger is actually a better album than reload even with the tragic sound on that, it says a lot about reload.

As bad as Re-load is, I can't go past St Anger as their lowest moment.

Terrible sound, tacky lyrics and generally just turd songs with maybe one or two exceptions.

Cant argue with that, I think last time I heard any tracks off that album was when I seen them live in 04.

I used to be a massive slayer fan but they haven't made a decent album since 1994's Divine Intervention (god hates us all was okay I guess) but their last 2 albums have been absolutely terrible. You compare them to kreator and thr german lads shit all over them.

Sound wise most definitely.. What the f**k were they thinking (drug addiction at work) :)

I still think st anger has better songs on it..

At the end of the day though.. I rately, if ever, listen to either.

Between 1996 and 2009, the only metallica album i liked was 'garage inc', which is saying a lot being that its a covers album.

So every where I look has Boris the Blade as death core death metal..

If anyone listens to it can you confirm if it fits this description to you.

Seems most of the Aussie bands I a listening to get categorized the same way..

Some one else here said they listen to Thy Art is Murder.. Deathcore in your opinion? Plenty of aces are saying they are as well.

No AJFA love??

Load grew on me eventually, I quite like it now.. Took a whole bunch of years though.

Edit..

Im a Dickhead .. AJFA was well before 96. (Must have been thinking you said 86.. Or maybs I'm just a dickhead as initially stated)
