Each to their own.. DM is a quality album, the 4 track ep beyond magnetic is also very good.

S&M is worth watching /listening to as well for something a little different.

Yeah. S & M really defeats the myth that the metal bands are just screaming & can't sing.

8 minute thrash song without solos? Impossible I say!

Prolly not many thrash songs.... tons of black or doom metal songs waaaay over that mark though, bands like Wolves in the Throne Room regularly crack the 20 minute mark without really playing solos.

Yeah. S & M really defeats the myth that the metal bands are just screaming & can't sing.

Can't say it took that album , plenty of bands had integrated orchestral stuff well before that.

Thought I'd share some bands I've been devoting most of my listening time to of late:

Attic - complete total Mercyful Fate worship is an understatement, however, this little German bloke sounds as close to the King as anyone I've heard and their debut LP is well worth a listen.

Midnight - Blackened Rock n Roll with a little thrash. They just kick arse basically, and are heading down under this year!

Bullet - their new album sucks, but these guys have kicked arse for years. AC/DC meets Accept basically.

Chapel - Canadian Black n Roll! This is perhaps the best mix of Motorhead inspired rock with the harsh blackened vocals and lyrical themes. Highly recommend!

Denouncement Pyre - new albums sounds good.

Enforcer - really keen for the new album. If you're unfamiliar they are fast, traditional, speedy, nice good ol' fashioned heavy metal.

In Solitude - snot-nosed Swedish kids playing King Diamond meets Candlemass. Very good band.

Evil Shepard - small Belgian Black Thrash band that probably no one outside Belgium knows but they are rad so track 'em down.

Shining - continue to deliver the goods. 2012 album 'Redefining Darkness' is one of the year's finest for mine.

Screamer - New band that gives hails to the likes of Priest and good 80s heavy metal.

Troldhaugen - NSW band, must check out if you're into Finntroll and the ilk.

Get some of this up you... such a brilliant, melodic, epic buildup/crescendo in the middle:

Lads just announced today they've signed to Nuclear Blast in the USA and their album will be released in a month or so over there. Gotta say I havent been this excited about an aussie band/album since PWD's 'Horizons'.

So now a few others are listening to them, what genre are they? Death Metal or Deathcore..

Seems they are most often referred to as deathcore.

Few new albums coming out at the moment.

Bring Me the Horizon's new album - Sempiternal is pretty damn good.

Killswitch Engage have a new one out which is supposed to be pretty good.

A few people are saying Northlane's new album is a good one too.
