I get my first pay in nearly two months tomorrow week. Eight days. So much I'd love to buy.
Pain Of Salvation on at the moment. After seeing them on a list from Angry Metal Guy, been getting back into their CDs...

WOO thread revival.

new Black Dahlia is f**king sick. And if you're someone like me who tends to gloss over hard to understand death vox and never look up the lyrics, don't make that mistake with this album. Some absolutely brilliant, twisted, utterly f**ked up and creative shit.

Best recommendations for someone into the goth, power, symphonic, folk, celtic and viking genres of metal?

Symphonic: Kamelot

Celtic/Folk: Eluveitie

Viking: Turisas, Amon Amarth

Goth: Cradle Of Filth (sorta...)

Power: Blind Guardian, 3 Inches Of Blood (EXCELLENT band), Iced Earth, Helloween

Just some of my personal favourites.

I'd add...

Symphony X (power-prog)

Enslaved (viking-black-prog)

Nightwish (goth) come at me bro, Nightwish are awesome

Stratovarius (as cheesy as power metal gets)

I need to hear the Kataklysm album people keep going on about

New game.. top 10 albums by decade.

Starting with.. 2000s. Albums released between 2000-2009. Your favourites, genre definers, or just straight up awesome shit.

For me, it's largely nostalgia based - the shit that I was listening to when I got into various kinds of metal and that I keep coming back to.

10 - Iron Maiden - Brave New World

9 - Primal Fear - 16.6

8 - Stratovarius - Infinite

7 - Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake

6 - In Flames - Come Clarity

5 - Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini

4 - Opeth - Blackwater Park

3 - Dream Theater - Train of Thought

2 - Machine Head - The Blackening

1 - Symphony X - Paradise Lost

Don't want to be a downer but wasn't Nightfall in Middle Earth released in '98? If not then that's my no. 1. Not sure about the other 9 just yet.

Yeah they were good. I didnt hang around for Havok as it was a school night, Matt Skitz is an insane drummer.

The best analogy for King Parrot i can think of is watching them live is akin to getting acid thrown in your face!

Oh shit we're playing this game? Hmmmm ... this will take me a while to get right. Excuse me while I do some thinking out loud.

Okay, Opeth ... best album is Morningrise but that's mid 90s. So I guess Blackwater Park tops the 2000s albums from their perspective.

Devin Townsend - Ziltoid
Devin Townsend - Physicist

Ayreon - The Human Equation

Hmmmm .... In Flames' best stuff was before 2000 so they're out.

Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness

I'll have to think about this more and come back.
