This guy is sadly, sadly out of form in the test arena, lets be fair dinkum here

I dont mind giving proven performers a good run when not contributing but this is getting pretty bad imo. Since the start our summer in November 2008 ....in 16 test innings

Averages 21.66

Scored two half centuries (70 vs kiwis, an ugly 50 vs SA)

His strike rate in this period is a tad over 35, his career s/r is over 48

Pains me to see him get out like he did yesterday, on deliveries he would usually let go until he is well settled. At what point does get the tap on the shoulder and who do we replace him with?

Heres a thought, If he continues to fail over the next couple of tests, and North keeps making runs. Do we just keep playing him or replace him with either Sunshine or McDonald?

Next test is at Lords, Hopefully it can inspire him to come back to some old form. I hope so.

An average of 21 over 16 innings is pretty poor, it's considered only a slump when you are in you're 20's but how old is he???? 34 from memory, i really hope he comes good but no one is undroppable.

Always thought chumps overrated him. Sure he had a magical run there for a while, but there was a reason he debuted so late. It was because he isn't awesome. Time for him to be tapped out.

At the very least Clarke needs to move to no.4

In terms of a replacement there isnt an obvious choice really , I dont want watson anywhere near the team on this tour.

Next summer the options could include ,

Callum Ferguson
Phil Jaques - If he shows some form , katich to no.4?
Michael Klinger

If there was a clear choice Hussey would be under much more pressure.

I'd be happy with Ferguson if Hussey doesn't get his act together. They can only carry him for so long

Hussey has 3, maybe 5 innings at most to reverse his slump at Test level. Patience with a 34 year old batsmen is something our selectors don't have as we continue to rebuild post Warne-McGrath IMO.

As for the suggestion of moving Katich down the order - a resounding NO from me. Katich is the foundation from which will continue to build our innings. Don't tamper with what's working at the top. Katich being there is also good for Phil Hughes.

Pomersbach should be next in line. Ferguson has a fc avg of 35 which is not good enough to warrant a test berth.

The selectors are obviously happy to give him the entire 5 tests even if he fails to make a run seeing as they didnt bring over a spare batsman

This was always going to happen tbh. Every good player will go through a bad stretch in their careers. Problem for Hussey is that with others, it often happens earlier on in their careers and isn't magnified as much as Hussey's because he set the bar so high early in his career.

They could be bold and play an extra bowler in Stuart Clark

Playing Clark at lords is probably a must anyway. One thing is for sure, Hussey has to go I have watched two years of just terrible form from the guy, for his own sake if anything tap him on the shoulder.

 his form has been poor - when compared with his earlier form... he's still doing a job for the most part, and you don't lightly drop a player with that kind of record

That's my take on it too. I think this is it for him - he's got 5 tests to turn it around and if not he'll be dropped.
