On point kicking game and brutal defence does. They rely on attack more than defence. Cleary is more than capable of laying on enough points against them if the kicking game is on song and the team muscles up on defence.

For this week it shouldn't matter but Cleary isn't the sort of half that creates a lot. Our defence will win more games then we lose regardless of the halves. Storm aren't like the other sides they will defend back and give you not much away

I put our halves like the Souths halves. Generally Reynolds is better but Cody Walker does the off the cuff stuff he can't...So they rightly chose him moving forward.

While we aren't at that stage yet and hopefully never have to make that call. Burton is closer to Cleary in playing styles.

Either half goes down and we don't win GF. Though we have some key games coming up. I feel confident we can still get the job done with Luai/Burton halves. Then I would if it was Cleary/Burton

Agreed. Burton was exceptional against the Storm (he even earned 3 Dally-M points from memory) and should play a similar game against the Eels.

Luai will just keep doing Luai things.

Those things are impossible to defend or prepare for too

Players like Walker win you games when you have momentum. Players like cleary win you games when you are in an arm wrestle. Souths aren't choosing Walker over Reynolds they're backing the young talent coming through as Reynolds now costs too much. Without a half like Cleary/Reynolds you don't win comps. You might win a few mid season games.
