A lot of fair points being raised.

Good post Apey.

The biggest problem with Pearce is that he was thrown into the deep end far too early. NRL debut at age 17, expected to guide a struggling Roosters outfit, Origin debut a year later in a series decider no less and becomes a fixture not long after. If other players had have stepped up and allowed Pearce to develop his game naturally, I believe the general concensus would be far more different than what it is.

As it stands, he's the safest bet NSW have at 7. He doesn't need to star for NSW next week, as long as he can be solid and give the likes of Tedesco, Maloney & Hayne an opportunity he would have done his job effectively.
Hes guaranteed to lose. How is that the safest bet?

Any other option has the potential to have that extra level in him and maybe thrive. Many probably dont. But none are getting a decent chance to show it. Pearce on the other hand has shown nothing in 15 games. When he loses game 1 next week his win rate drops to 25%. Every time he is pick led the same arguments are recycled. He fails still.

He might be our form club half. But that doesnt mean he's the best club option. DCE has been great for Manly this year. But QLD would prefer to pick out of form Milford, Morgan and guts like that. Because DCE failed in his Origin time.

The Maroons were far too good in all their series wins. Even in the close games, Queensland had experience where it mattered most and the Blues could have had Mullen, Orford, Campese, Carney, Soward, Hornby or whatever other 'amazing' alternative was, the result was always going to be the same.

I'm not discrediting the Blues effort in 2014 either, rather Pearce's omission wasn't the difference between victory or defeat.
Come on.

I think you are vastly underrating huttys post.

In 2006 NSW lost that series.

Then there were all the series decided by a field goal which we got none.

Yes QLD were far too good in many of the series' but not in all of them.

I dont solely blame mitch pearce, not at all. The difference being that Robbie Farah who was equally not able to step up (and generally garbage in comparison to smith), generally performed far better then ennis the only other viable option who got a fair shot at being picked and having a go.

Mitch Pearce generally performed worse then his halves partner, despite getting more ball, more opportunity and being the planned dominant half. Yet he continued to get picked, he was not dropped nearly enough.

Again this series you look at the sides, QLD has a big advantage in the spine, but NSW despite picking woods the fairy and nuftys like fergo and dugan (who are all worse then other options) generally have better players in the outside backs and pack and bench... Yet we are very unlikely to win... because of the chasm between the spines which pearce is 1/4 of.

Don't stir up the LU Hive Mind, Albert. Pearce is apparently the shittest player in history according to these nuffies.

Pearce did enough to get picked for Origin 2, no-one better atm, played well in a great team, not f**king rocket science

No matter how he played if NSW won he was going to be exonerated for his past sins

Fwiw he was bog average

Rubbish.

Pearce's try would not have been scored by any other potential NSW half back. It needed acceleration and speed which only Queensland halves Cronk, Morgan and DCE possess. No potential NSW half has it.

The best thing about Pearce in the team is that we can mock the Qlders harder when we win.

We can use Thurston's sledge as motivation. Imagine winning the series with the worst halfback NSW has ever seen .

And according to you and your Rooster mates he's the greatest player ever. According to you he should have been an immortal after his first ever touch of the ball, and after his 2nd a new, higher honour should have been bestowed upon him.

I can't wait for Albert's take on it when he gets home from school tomorrow.

Pearce broke 16 tackles in a length of the field effort in a majestical display of skill and speed.

I was close.
