I will be the first to admit....1999 was a massive choke by my beloved Dragons...bloody mundine!! We should have won this game, but we choked.

Some of the Tigers supporters just don't have the IQ or guts to admit that in 2010 the Tigers choked against the Chooks then the Dragons, c'mon guys get out of the denial mindset.

2011, the premiership was there for the Tigers to win but once again the tigers choked at the last few minutes of the game the warriors scored a fluky try...not as fluky as the Benji Marshall drop kick air swing kick try verses the Dragons.
Just admit it people and accept the truth.

I can honestly say the Dragons did choke in 1999 and 2009.
But we won in 2010 which we deserved and were the better team all year

Tigers were better than the roosters in 2010...but choked.
Tigers were better than the warriors in 2011...but choked.
Tigers were better than ..................in 2012...but will choke while Benji is trying to do everything...tigers need a champion team not just one champion player.

Thanks for admitting it and accepting we would have been worthy grand finalists in the last 2 years-much appreciated and we have to accept what could have been. And aren't you guys lucky and appreciative we''choked' against the roosters last year, otherwise they would have been gone and you guys would have possibly been up against a better team and (caveat-haven't gone through al the permutations )...maybe even your hoodoo team Canberra whom you've hardly beaten in how many years...? Is that another definition of choke? We did manage to beat them 3 times last years, more times than you guys have in 10 years-im guessing at that but im sure thats close, including twice in Canberra.

Wests will be better than St George in 2012, and will not choke against Saints. Thats all you need to be concerned about my dear friend.

It must be dull being a Dragons fan - nothing better to do than troll the Tigers forum. Also, endlessly repeating the same tired crap does not make it any more convincing.

Speaking of choking, has any team ever won 11 of their first 12, then not made it through to the last 4?

FMD, thats a bigger choke then 1999, as you had to do it over a period of 4 months...

Anything worse than playing like champs for only the second half of the year, winning your first semi, all the momentum you could ever want, than crashing in the last minute against the warriors? Choke or just general failure?

I've just had a good look at the intensity of the replies of most saints fans.
At the pretty pictures dragons 2010 made up. ( must have been to a few scrapbooking classes for that one, slugger )
At the inability for them to say " yes, we have had massive massive chokes over many many seasons" and " yes, I accept that we won our singular comp playing the most boring and dull football ever conceived "

I was brought up not to poke fun at those that God had obviously overlooked. The "special" people.

So I won't be giving it to saints fans any more.
They have enough to deal with.

They can even have Moltzen.

Statement From Dragons CEO Peter Doust: Tim Moltzen Signing Facts & Update

12/10/2011 7:39:40 PM

St George Illawarra Dragons CEO Peter Doust On Wednesday issued the following regarding the signing of Tim Moltzen:
On July 8 this year, the Dragons publicly announced that we had agreed to terms with Tim Moltzen for three years beginning in 2012. On this day, Stephen Humphries telephoned me to express his dissatisfaction with the timing of our announcement.
Whilst I listened to his comments on the timing, it was certainly clear to me from our conversation that the Wests Tigers intended to release Tim Moltzen from the final year of his contract with their Club.
Whilst Stephen continues to state publicly that he has never formalized the release of Tim Moltzen, Tim’s Manager Martin Tauber advised us on a number of occasions that the release was “no issue”.
Given these expressions of intent that we received, in good faith, we included Tim Moltzen as part of our roster and planning for 2012 and provided a three year contract which Tim Moltzen and Martin Tauber signed on July 12.
On the same day that Stephen expressed his frustration (July 8) that our game day announcement of Tim's signing was an issue, Tigers Coach Tim Sheens addressed this situation in his post-game press conference, denying it was a distraction. Sheens said ‘The boys were aware that Timmy was moving on …”
Tim’s Manager Martin Tauber has also publicly stated in various media channels that Stephen Humphries had verbally agreed to a release for Tim. Going even further to say “There is no issue.. He (Tim) will be at the Dragons next year” (July 12).
Tim Moltzen himself discussed his move to the Dragons publicly “It’s a weight off my shoulders … I don’t have to worry about the issue any more. It’s put to bed and my future is decided” (August 2).
Tigers Captain Benji Marshall, who shares a house with Tim Moltzen, is also on the public record acknowledging that Tim would be moving on at the end of the season. “He’s flying for us. He’s a big loss for the club, a massive loss. I’m devastated he’s going, especially the way he’s been playing. That’s rugby league” (Sept 12).
The Dragons have documentation from our meetings and discussions with Martin Tauber and Tim Moltzen where all arrangements in relation to the contract for Tim Moltzen were discussed. Martin also discussed the terms arranged with Wests Tigers regarding Tim’s “Deed of Release”.
Tim Moltzen has met with our incoming Head Coach Stephen Price where a number of matters were discussed including the fact that Tim had indicated that he would be moving to Wollongong.
It is quite obvious that some circumstances at the Wests Tigers have changed in recent times, otherwise why only now three months later are we made aware that there is an issue?
We believe there are still a lot of unanswered questions in relation to this issue.
It is accurate to note that this contract is yet to be registered by the NRL, as we have been waiting for the formality of the receipt of the official “Deed of Release” from the Wests Tigers. Martin Tauber had been chasing this and even indicated that he thought that this had already been completed by the Wests Tigers.
On September 27 the Tauber Management Group emailed the Dragons to enquire if we were yet to receive the official release from the Wests Tigers stating “… if not, please respond by return email and I will follow-up for you”.
In terms of the registration of a “Deed of Release”, in my some 11 years as CEO of the Dragons such arrangements have always been considered a formality and a situation such as this has never previously presented.
Furthermore I strongly believe that the game generally, athletes and their Managers have not been keen to formalize “Deeds of Release” without prospective contract arrangements in place.
Admittedly if we did have the signed release from the Wests Tigers then we would not be in this situation.
However, we strongly believe this matter should be judged on the principles of intent and actions arising in good faith.
Interestingly, at present, we are yet to formally sign the “Deeds of Release” for Darius Boyd and Ratu Peni Tagive but they are all moving on to other Clubs for next season because that is our intentions and verbal agreements were made with the players and their Managers.
If things were to suddenly change at our Club, as they appear to have for the Wests Tigers, we would not be reconsidering our position as we would stand by our conversations, assurances and undertakings that our Club had given to these players and their Managers, who at present are still officially contracted to the Dragons for 2012. In our opinion, that is not the right thing to do for any of the parties concerned.
The Dragons had not been approached by Tim Moltzen, Martin Tauber or the Wests Tigers to suggest that there was an issue with the three year Dragons contract that had been signed on July 12.
Our suspicions were raised earlier last week when both Martin Tauber and Tim Moltzen did not return phone calls to Dragons staff and Tim also failed to front for a pre-arranged meeting prior to his departure for an end of season overseas trip with other Wests Tigers players.
On October 6 Martin Tauber finally returned calls, where he indicated that he does not wish to meet Dragons staff in an attempt to resolve the issue and that it is something that needs to be sorted out between the two Clubs.
So given, the NRL have not yet registered Tim Moltzen’s signed Dragons contract for 2012-2014, we have been investigating our legal position over the past days. Certainly some sections within the NRL rules are worth exploring in protecting the Dragons’ interests.
Furthermore we have been in daily contact with Wests Tigers Management since last Tuesday ensuring they understood our “good faith” actions throughout negotiations with Tim and his Manager and were encouraged to believe that the release would be forthcoming.
Public comments made by Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphries on Monday, October 10 confirmed that position,
“The way that it is likely to play out is that he will be going to the Dragons. We don’t want to stretch it out.
“We will have a conversation with them in the next few days about it, but we have been working on the assumption that he won’t be here next season”.
Now today, instead of confirmation of the official release that we were encouraged to believe would happen, we have been informed by Wests Tigers that they wish to enter into further discussions with us which we believe will prolong the issue unreasonably.
It is essential that we act to conclude the profile of our playing roster for 2012 as soon as possible.
Clearly this is not something that we have been able to resolve with the Wests Tigers and we will now continue to press our contractual position in relation to Tim Moltzen and his Manager’s intentions for the 2012 season and beyond by formally referring the matter to the NRL.
We believe such circumstances are not in the best interests of the game and our club could be seriously disadvantaged at this late stage with our 2012 pre-season scheduled to start in just a matter of weeks.

I've said if before, a disgrace on our club and on Moltzen. Really shameful stuff.

We've been a model club since the dark days of twin clowns Langmack and Lamb, aside from Farah's disgraceful milking of penalties, and we don't need actions by the player and the club with such a lack of integrity. Dark day for the Tigers.

I wish they would have gone into detail ! Seriously this appears to be first definite sign (rather than just presumption ) that molten does not want to leave the tigers. Why would a club want a player who doesn't want to go ? They are a good club - it's not like it's a shite side like the roosters or sharks .

I think it has gone past that now although the question could be reversed and asked why would a player want to go to a club that told him they didn't want him and he wasn't part of their future. Even Moltzen must see that the situation has only changed with the Tigers since their preferred choice as halfback got himself in trouble.

Saints have done what they always do and that is not conducted their business dealings through the media. A full statement on their website detailing the full situation and an email to their members including the full statement. The speaking to the media is what has become Humphreys (Tigers) undoing. Firstly by Humphreys himself with his contradictory statements and then by Sheens the coach and the West Tigers players.

While Moltzen may only be a small player probably not worth the fuss, don't think for a minute that every other NRL club is not watching how the Tigers and Humphreys conduct business.

Didn't this start by Doust publicly announcing Moltzen's signing prior to a release being granted?

If another club is releasing a pretty handy player to you, wouldn't you respect the wishes of the club losing the player in how the transfer is conducted? It appears to be common courtesy to me and may be the catalyst for the problems now.

And as Willow knows, we have full confidence in the CEO.

The above should be the management of the player to deal with. As doust said, he was told the release was not an issue by tauber and then later requested an email if things were not kosher and he would handle it

Molt had a contract for 2012. He said before the st George announcement he wanted to stay a tiger. He was let go due to salary cap. It is clear now the tigers want him . It is clear he wants to stay . It's unanswerable that at this stage the dragons are demanding he play for them when he at this stage does not Want too .

The saints put out an epic public media release on molt issue. How is that "not conducting business through the media" in any event , what does it matter if they use the media or not ? Saints could have said nothing publicly . There is no pressing need. No games for months.

Moltzen wants to stay. The tigers are supporting him because they want him to stay. I think it says more about st George. How bad a club must it be that a player will not Want to Go there on a long term deal with better money ? Again it comes back to why does st George Want a player who does not want them ? And why does nt a player want to go to a club offering so much better deal ?

tim moltzen is like a battered wife (apt given the timing of lui using his lady as a punching bag). half way during the year he is belittled and told he is no longer wanted. his heart broken...he walks away somberly looking for someone to treat him right (despite still being in love with the bastard that treated him bad).

He starts going out and doing things with the new guy..trying to get over the bad boy that mistreated him.

but then after a while...the person who was battering him starts to recall the "good times" they had together. Then starts working hard to take a soft hearted battered moltzen back.

Moltzen convinces himself..."the club has changed...they love me now. they wont push me to the curb again. we have chemistry..i KNOW they will propose to me with an extended contract once my 1 yr is done. They want me long term. Besides...i cant leave benji behind. Hes my flesh and blood.

/ battered woman analogy lol

Its funny how loyalty and heart/love of a team is sooo paramount, until ofcourse management decide to coldly boot you away. Then when management change their mind they manipulate the players love/affection for the team to make them comply to their will.

Times Dragons aired out their laundry? Once. Tigers? How long have you got? How many quotes has doust made over the last two weeks compared to Humphrey b bear?
No pressing need? Are you for real, pre season starts in just over three weeks.
How bad does it look for a club to expect a player to honour a contract they signed less than six months ago? Is say pretty fair.
