HAHA true.

But Perry did straighten up for what...5 matches during contract negotiations hehe.

And it worked :(. Oh well, if he played as good as he could - he does have unlimited potential - then he'd be worth the ridiculous amounts of money the management pay him... As it stands, when he's getting paid 180-200k, I expect him to be a state of origin prop, not a fat genius who breaks his hand in a trial punching Greg bird in the face (who wouldn't like to punch bird in the face though?).

People maybe quick to write the Roosters off after season 2005 but one only has to see that they finished 9th on 26 points - 2 points out of the 8 and 6 points from 4th place and they had an average season at best. 11 games of 6 or less and only 3 wins in these was the killer - Win most of your close games you make the 8.

They finished with the 4th best defence which can be improved upon and 11th in attack which certainly can be improved upon so there is no reason why they cannot make the 8 and even the top 4 given their roster.

I predict a Roosters premiership in 2006 which of course will mean those fairweather supporters such as those in that foff mob will be rejoicing too unfortunately.

I never said they had it "as bad"..I said they had their fair share of injuries as well...which caused their slide down the ladder, which is true.

and by the way, you actually said "just about the same" ;-)...

One word;

Finch.

I reckon the Rooters will go alright next year. They've still got an awesome pack, only strengthened by one of the most underrated players in the game, Ashley Harrison. Anasta is garbage, as is Finch, but Soward and Anasta in the halves would still be alright (when Finch is playing for Souths or the Newtown Jets).

ROTFL, Johns only slightly better? What the hell are you smoking? And what's with that homo emoticon at the end of all your posts? Can you like, stop doing it? It's annoying.

I'm talking when both players are at their best, Johns is only marginally better. FACT.

And before you complain about something being homo, just look at your avatar...

As for comprehensively covered. We bought Carney - when on song, is the best winger in the world - you bought Albert, just another example of our rejects being your prize signings... He'll turn out exactly the same as bird and Franze did.

Carney has been rubbish since the tri-nations

Albert is one of the ESL's top-tryscorers, and has been consistantly for 3 years...

Fool.

Compare this to

1) Thaiday/Seage
2) Cooper
3) Tighe
4) Kidley/Midley
5) Carney
6) Mullen/Kidley
7) Johns
8) Davico
9) Buderus
10) Perry
11) Simpson
12) Newton
13) Abraham

14) Reynoldson
15) Woolnough
16) Smith
17) Brown/Snowden/Thaiday/Seage

The most important thing about our lineup is that we have competition for every position except Halfback and Hooker... Even then, we have handy replacements for both in Campbell/Walsh and Quigley/Berry. If you think the Sharks lineup is better than that, you're dreaming.

Maybe it's my arrogant Novocastrian nature, but if injuries are kind, Newcastle for top 4.

ROFL  Look at that creampuff front-row... they are the worst props in the whole comp...

Your bench is also just as laughable...

BTW somethingwithjohn's side is way off...

Soward isn't a number 7 as Finch isn't a number 6 - Stuart made the big mistake of signing Firman and not starting with Flannery as the number 6 from game 1 as playing two halves as the 6 and 7 has never worked.

Who's fact? A fact you just made up?

And our 'powderpuff' front row sh*t all over your bunch of 'tough men' from great heights last time we played. What was your excuse then?

Total:
Knights - 10
Sharks - 7

Knights win.

I think u should make that 11-6, because Kidley or Mullen are better five-eights then what Vagana is. Vagana isnt even a recognised 5/8, he's a centre who was thrown in there, he has no playmaking abilities. Mullen and Kidley on the other hand, are recognised 5/8's, even thought Kidley would prob make a better centre. He would still have Vagana covered though.

He's only played a couple of games since then, so it's hard to judge.

For me, he's the most interesting signing of '06 -- potential to either be a superstar or a flop. I'm hoping for the former :)

That Knights team does look very, very strong. Keep in mind it's an even better lineup than the one which was the form team of the comp for the last eight weeks or so.

A back row of Simpson, Newton and Abraham is mouthwatering... hope we can keep them on the paddock together.

No, I didn't make anything up.

Johns has long considered Kimmorley as his toughest and most difficult rival, and has stated himself that he admires parts of his game...

Considering the horrendous form we were entering the game with, as well as Newcastle's added incentive (last home game)... it was always going to be tough...

Stevens' injury didn't help either...

Just from Big Micks bench... We can also throw in Quigley, Tolar, Price, Salkeld, Quinn, White, Worth etc. We have awsome depth. Its what will keep us going well next year.

Do you even know who it is? I'd hope not, you wouldn't get that kind've humour anyways... You're a Sharks supporter, afterall!

... And we got rid of him for Tahu and Macdougal, does that not tell you something? Wait until you see how poorly he defends positionally, just like he did at the Knights. That'll be two wingers to run tries down.

Davico is the worst prop in the comp? Ok! Perry I agree with, this is his last chance to pickup his game before he can bugger off and make way for any of the other 5000 first grade players we produce for every other club every year.

Your bench is also just as laughable...

brown is a future representative player, mark my words.

Seage, best or second best player on the field every time he's played.

Thaiday, 3 million times as good as any Sharks back (except maybe Nige, shame he don't get the ball :p)... And only after one year!

Remember Snowden, the guy that single handedly monstered the Sharks'/Jets so called "great" sides' packs in Flegg and Premier League last year? The 18 year old kid who wins MOTM just about every time he plays representative football.

Smith, one of the best front rowers this year. Nothing needs to be said really.

Reynoldson is a toiler, if I had my way he wouldn't be in the side at all, but he'll be there somewhere since we're paying him way too much...

Certainly is a laughable bench, especially compared to such superstars as Hilder and bird ...

You live in a dream world MrSharky, no premiership is going to Cronulla next year.

Vagana isnt even a five-eight for farks sake. How many games has he played as a 5/8?? Last year was his first year was it not, which equates to roughly btwn 15 and 20 games? Kidley has been playing 5/8 for about 3 years, which equates to around 55-60 games. That tells me Kidley is more of a recognised 5/8 then Vagana is, hence he would have him covered. Anyway if Kidley doesnt, then Mullen sure as hell does.

Mate, just about every team's signings have the "potential to either be a superstar or a flop"...

Don't forget also that Carney is only there for 1 year... Newcastle is just the transit lounge for the time being...

Abraham will never reach the potential he once showed... his injuries were horrendous...

I also see nothing special in Newton... Just another average footballer...

Vagana has played 3 games at five-eighth.

His first for NZ, where he guided them to a tri-nations win last year...

His second in the record 68-6 win over Manly; scored a hat-trick also...

His third in the first 30 mins of the Qualifying Final v the Dragons, in which we were leading the premiership favourites...

I'd say he has done pretty well there, since he's played centre for all his career...

Nobody said he was gonne play 5/8th anyway... it's all speculation ATM, since Dykes' release hasn't even been granted yet...

Vagana is a world-class footballer... to suggest Kurt Gidley is even close is laughable...
