So by your logic any coach with a star roster should always make a GF, and injuries are no excuse ?? Ok I'll remember your uneducated quote when you use injuries as an excuse for the dogs
Kato you are a foooool !

Lol, you are the fool. Every club has injuries get a clue.

No one else also has a roster that has 13/17 who are international or origin players.

A first year coach who goes to the prelim final is overrated???? GTFOH Doggiesbro.

Two other people have said fair comment, he has taken over a international and origin filled team. More then any other club with 13/17.

Using injuries is piss weak, every club goes through them.

The thing not one of you have disputed is NOT ONE SINGLE PLAYER improved. ALMOST EVERYONE SINGLE ONE went backwards. The only bright light was the new thug jorge.

And very club struggles when the injuries occur to their main players.

And how the f**k were they meant to improve on last season. Can't do much more then win the comp.

He took a team of origin and international stars, a team from premiers to one of the most embarrasing final appearances ever.

Des Hasler took the premiers to a 40-12 thrashing by Melbourne to exit the finals in 2009. Only difference is he didn't get the team to a prelim.

In fact Manly performed better in a season after a premiership year under Toovey than just about any defending premiers since the inception of the NRL. But don't let facts get in the way of a good troll.

Not a bad call, though the one thing he has as an excuse for this season is adjusting to life after a future immortal in Lockyer.

Toovey didn't lose anything close to Lockyer. Nor havce to adjust to losing someone not just so important to the team mentally but also physically.
are u for real boggiesdoe?? if hasler hadn't have been in all the MANLY players ears telling them about all the great mosques at lakemba.tooves would have had it easy.
as it was his FIRST year as a first grade coach, and came from an assistant coach role i can not see how he was rated in the first place.MANLY Took a chance with tooves and he was 1 game away from a gf.thats not failure, what is failure is a club that has sooo much money behind it that can BUY the best coach from MANLY and get their bums smacked in the gf
now this year u maybe able to justify your very cheap arguments if he fails

Yeh all of them are comparable to Darren Lockyer

William Hopoate > Darwin Locklear
+
Shane Rodney - Solid first grader,no mistakes
+
Micheal Robertson - Possibly the most underrated good winger in the history
of the game

= Add the 3 together and you have 3 times the gap Darwin left behind

If i were you id be worried about my salary cap after signing 2 INTERNATIONALS
mid-season from other clubs and having zero local juniors in FIRST GRADE,Also how can a coach be overrated after one season? If anyone is overrated it is Desmond for winning coach of the year and having an inept side in the grand final against a melbourne team THAT WAS NEVER IN TROUBLE during the grand final

Go bite someone you filthy dog so we can put you down like we should with James Graham

It's too early to judge the likes of Toovey, Griffin, Flanagan, Maguire etc.

With Brian Smith & Tim Sheens gone it's down to Neil Henry, John Cartwright & Ivan Cleary.

Despite a good reputation, Henry only has a 45.9% winning percentage and has yet to achieve anything significant in his career. His career is at a cross-roads and if he achieves a Top 4 finish he could put himself out of the line of fire.

Cartwright has underachieved with one of the most talented rosters in the competition and currently sits on a 45.4% winning percentage. The Titans attacking structure lacks a lot of cohesion and potency and his reliance on average players leaves a lot to be desired.

I really don't see what Gus see's in Cleary. His record with the Warriors was just a little over 50% despite having a very talented roster and his inability to get the Warriors playing consistent football from March right through to September left a lot to be desired.

Oh dear I stoped when you compared hoppa to Lockyer.

Your mate post above you is just as much full of rubbish as yours.

Poor Manly fans. How they can try and bag the dogs and des is rather sad. though i spose after being spanked by the dogs twice it kinda hurt. and don't talk about a melbourne team never in trouble of losing. they spanked manly by 40 :lol::lol::lol::lol:

My opinion of Des is that he is a money hungry control freak that will have a falling out with Greenberg if he hasnt already, this merkin wants total control over everything and the riots that you blokes cause were not appreciated by the filth ridden merkin,he's a decent coach but he did shit in 2009 after winning a premiership,if i remember correctly we got flogged by melbourne in melbourne and Saints lost to the eels which meant that Manly (5th) was therefore eliminated

In 2010 we made the 8 but couldnt play for 80 minutes due to a shit fitness regiment employed by Hasler in that year,we were never a real threat for the premiership

In 2011 he finally moved the worst winger in the history of the NRL to the backrow and we ended up having a successful year, which resulted in a premiership

In 2012 Toovey was left with no other coaching staff than himself,Donny Singe and David Warrick and had to build up from nothing his coaching staff,he had a successful year coming 4th one game away from the Grand Final,my take on why it all went wrong was a team to tired to keep fighting after a bullshit first half of the draw

Adding to Hasler's legacy at Manly is the unusual signings for multiple years on massive contracts of our oldest players, including Brent Kite who is reportedly getting $400k for next year when he isnt even worth half of that in my honest opinion,i presume that after he shook Greenberg's hand he decided to give Kite a big contract along with another few aging players including Joe G who IMO has been a good player for us so far but will fade next year, hopefully not as it would ruin his legacy but who knows?

Also adding to that was when he was signing marquee players that we have he thought it would be cool to add in a No-Hasler clause which meant if he wasnt there for any reason the contracts would be null and void,it tied up a lot of our salary cap ridding the last remnants of Desmond from our wonderfully resiliant club

Gee some Moanly fans struggle with the concept of gratitude. Two Premierships and they still diss the coach that got them there. Strange.

He is probably the 2nd best coach in the NRL, but I think Hasler is overrated to an extent.
He gets labelled as a supercoach, but failed (for the 2nd time in his career) to prepare a "plan b" for a grand final. Hasler was simply out-coached by Bellamy.

Bennett had a bad year, lets give him the benefit of the doubt and judge after next year.

Imagine your coach signed else where then took all support staff and signed your most useless players to big money contracts and also put a clause in the useful players contracts saying "if the coach leaves I can leave" then failed massively trying to poach the stars he signed in said contracts, you'd think he was a shit merkin to! I wish the dogs nothing other than extreme failure

Same goes to his staff, seriously did you hear the "Des on the driveway" story? I wouldn't be shocked if true

Imagine if that coach wanted to stay all along and the people in charge were too stupid to make it happen... Oh wait
