Judge Toovey based on next season IMO. It's unfair to say he has the perfect line up to work with...based on that, Benett isn't that great either really. He has always had good rosters to work with and that's perhaps the reason for his success. Put him in an average side like Newcastle and he struggles...

To answer your question..most overrated: Tim Shines
Most overhyped: Stephen Kearney.

Not a bad call, though the one thing he has as an excuse for this season is adjusting to life after a future immortal in Lockyer.

Toovey didn't lose anything close to Lockyer. Nor havce to adjust to losing someone not just so important to the team mentally but also physically.

:crazy::crazy::crazy:

The upheaval of having your coach poached, star players off contract, injurys and suspension taking their toll and toovey got us to the prelim, still pretty good in my opinion.
Hardly overrated DoggiesBro !

wasnt poached, wanted out. every club has players off contract, injuries and suspensions. poor excuse.

not every club has 13/17 international or origin players.

Sheens by a mile, he has never ever been questioned by the media until this year and even then it was only when it was obvious he was about to lose his job. Have never, ever seen a bloke get such a protected run in professional sport

LOL, so your using Des as the excuse? Right. So all the people calling the dragons coach the worst i nthe comp are wrong. It's only cause Wayne left?:lol::lol:

Though your right, Dog's only gain was James Graham. Lost a few big names. Though Des's ability made the team change that much better.

Toovey who was with the club and claimed to be groomed for years made no improvements in anyone... Infact almost everyone went backwards.

Thanks for confirming my point.

LOL, come on mate. Seriously...

People were calling the Dogs and Bunnies to miss the 8. Crap halves being the main reason when Sandow took the pay day and Reynolds was unproven with a useless Sutton. Hell Barba being a rubbish player and nightmare at fullback was 1 too. Pritchard being incosistent. Graham unproven. Kasiano a fat nobody. Halatau & Stagg past it. Eastwood overweight and no heart.

The dogs missed the 8 and lost Ryan, Idris from memory as the main two and added James Graham.

Lets be serious. Des has made our roster 1000x better then what it was.

So your saying Des leaving the Sea Eagles made no difference but him going to the Dogs made them 10000000000000000000000000000000X better?

Fairly sure the Eels were the worst in the comp this season.. the Dragons had the same thing as Manly premiership winning coach leaving them..

Easily Hasler. Coach of the Year, lol. Had the front running all the way to the GF, then fail when it mattered.
Who was the last Dogs coach to get 'Coach of the Year'? Was it someone named Moope, Moops? Something like that anyway. Where is he now?

So by your logic any coach with a star roster should always make a GF, and injuries are no excuse ?? Ok I'll remember your uneducated quote when you use injuries as an excuse for the dogs
Kato you are a foooool !

Im not sure what other peoples understanding of what the term "over-rated" means, but my understanding is its someone who is thought of or regarded very highly, yet hasn't done enough to deserve that.

Im not a fan of Wayne Bennett but there is no way in hell he can be regarded as over-rated. His career record speaks for itself and is one that any other coach would kill for.

Stephen Kearney?? who the f**k rates this guy? He's coached what, 1 season? for a spoon team and then got the sack.... who was ever singing his praises or talking him up? Shit coach? yeah... definitely. Over-rated? hardly.

Anthony Griffin?? I don't recall hearing much if anything about this guy, he might have underachieved but over-rated? i don't think i've heard two words about him.

I can certainly agree with people saying Tim Sheens, of course. The guy has massively underachieved given the time and rosters he has had at his disposal. Should have been punted years ago.

But for me, Ricky Stuart's name sits high above the rest when it comes to being over-rated, over-hyped and held in such high regard for no reason at all. He won a comp at the Roosters after riding Graham Murrays coat tails. He achieved nothing at the Sharks except for setting an NRL record for signing the most amount of backrowers in a single football club. Over the last couple of years, the Origin series' have been all about how Ricky Stuart has revived the Blues, gotten them believing in themselves and each other and how they are sooooo close to beating QLD... I understand this series was close but Origin football usually is, and at the end of the day Ricky still didn't achieve a damn thing when it comes to the one thing important for a coach to achieve....RESULTS.

After stepping aside from NSW, the rumours were flying thick and fast as to who would be the club lucky enough to lure the super-coach to the top gig for 2013....why?

The hype upon his appointment was massive, seemed everyone in the game rated him.... the more mindless Parra fans picked up on the hype and rated him too, before he'd even coached an NRL match. All this before Kearney's performance actually revealed that he wasn't a head coach's toenail clipper.

2nd best ranked coach in the NRL according to the Daily Tele pre-2011 season.

Clearly Anthony Griffin. He's made out to be the next big thing but he's incredibly average.

Sheens, he should retire ASAP.
Spot on,a deadset myth,he had everyone bar the WestsTigers fans with an idea bluffed for years, glad to see the back of him.
9 halves combo's this year with only 1 injury,Benji at 7,Farah at 7,Fulton at 6,Ayshford at 6 Lawrence at 6 these are but just a few of his gems from this season.
Morris in the halves for 2 and half seasons and Fitzhenry at 5/8th for a long time are his signature moves.what a deadset idiot this bloke is,a clear winner by the fact he has coached 600 odd games and should have learnt something along the way.
