If it comes down to money Sydney won't be getting it. Our goverment would be lucky to buy a candy bar in the state it's in.
No. The NRL should have some strict criteria on selecting a grand final venue, that would basically shut out Brisbane and Melbourne.
We should demand an +80k stadium suitable for RL. We should demand state government support. And it needs to be justified by having a State of Origin match in that city exceeding 60,000 the previous year, as well as membership numbers exceeding 40,000 for clubs in that state. Since Brisbane and Melbourne don't meet that sort of criteria (which Sydney does) they should not get the grand final.
The only other time I think it would be okay to shift it, is if ANZ is unavailable in Sydney because it is being redeveloped into a rectangular, roofed stadium with a capacity of 90,000 (posibly for a world cup) as a one off in Brisbane.
Sydney's top three clubs in terms of membership have more members than the three Qld clubs put together.
Source?
The Broncos from what I know have the most members out of any club in the NRL.
there was Talk of moving the GF to Brisbane and Melbourne a while back Defantely a good move. Im not sure whats going on up there in Sydney to make them want to do this.. It had something to do with the lack of crowd figures.. or support of fans for there club..
First move it to Brisbane. Where the True Die hard fans of Rugby League live. No one deserve's to have it more then the Queenslanders.
Then the following year. Bring it down to Melbourne the home of rugby leagues Super Power. the whole CITY of melbourne would embrace it and it would sell out. No one knows how to enjoy ANY sporting event better then a Melbournian.

But not a fair comparison, i think if you averaged out the number of members in NSW vs the number of members in QLD then QLD would probably come out on top (just guessing, haven't done the sums) - by the way who has the worst 4 membership numbers? SYDNEY!
Unless I read it wrong, I can't find one Sydney team let alone three with a membership of 25 000+.

no it appears i read it wrong
10k + 10k + 7k is more than 25k Pete. Come on QLDers, you'll work it out eventually....maybe
What are you on about?
I saw that as meaning, Sydney's top three clubs have bigger memberships than the 3 QLD sides put together.
As in one of the three clubs have more members than 3 QLD sides.
