Pet Sounds isn't my favourite album Pantherz.

I don't watch the ABC much, Rockwiz is about as much as I can stomach.

Niether do I but I have parents, the types that go 'oh we better support the ABC and local programming' yawn. But I find these kinds of lists intriguing just because everyone has an opinion, like it or hate it. I thought the top three sucked to be honest, and Californication should have been higher too :p

Where is Throwing Copper?

#85 or thereabouts. Which means one of mine got a showing, happy enough with that.

It's an interesting list, expected to see Missy Higgins, Delta, Anthony Callea etc etc in there because it's a public vote, but by the same token didn't expect to see Jeff Buckley at #2. Wide variety of voters then, which is probably a good thing because it makes the list less cliched.

Would like to see the results if they did it five years from now, or if it was a Channel 10 poll.

Did anyone watch this show on ABC tonight? The public was supposed to vote in for what their favourite albums and then they had a countdown of a top ten list with a panel of 'experts' including Renee Geyer, Judith Lucy and Ian 'Dicko' Dickson discussed the merits of each album.

The top ten favourite albums were:

  1. Pink Floyd — Dark Side of the Moon
  2. Jeff Buckley — Grace
  3. Radiohead — OK Computer
  4. The Beatles — Abbey Road
  5. The Beatles — Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
  6. Nirvana — Nevermind
  7. Led Zeppelin — Four
  8. Red Hot Chili Peppers — Blood Sugar Sex Magik
  9. Meat Loaf — Bat Out of Hell
  10. U2 — Joshua Tree
I voted for the RHCP - BSSM

Thoughts on the list? I was a bit disappointed to be honest.

thats a sh*thouse list

Nirvana blew everyone of your van halens out of the park with 4 chords...
Na na na... chuka chuka... Da, na na na... chuka chuka
Da na na... chuka chuka... Da, na na na... chuka chuka
simple and perfect.

Thankyou Nirvana for saving the 90's .

It was a very very special time .
If you missed it or were too busy hanging onto your spandex dreams... well you really did miss out on "our" Beatlemania.

When that song was played at nightclubs everyone just went beserk...it was an amazing experience to witness.

Glad I lived through it all.

I saw them at Selinas and it was the most intense electrifying night of my life.

It was literally rock n roll history unfolding before my eyes.

..and everyone there probably sensed it.

So you fell for the hype huh?

I missed it, but the top albums seem pretty predictable.
Speaking of Myf's tasties, what was she wearing?

No, not at all.
In fact I was travelling around Australia from Jan 91 until late Dec 91.
No mobile phones back then
No wide reaching JJJ
No TV
all we had were the audio tapes we took with us .

The only thing I knew of them was a little article I read in Juke magazine..it said they'd knocked Michael Jackson off the no.1 spot in the US and they were a "punk" band.
I was a pretty big DK's fan so I thought they could be worth listening to.

When I got home a mate gave it to me to listen to .
He just said turn it up loud.
I listened to it through twice in a row...I loved it.
I had never seen the video or any footage of the "hype" you talk about.

So to answer your question..No I didn't fall for the hype at all, I was shocked when I saw how small Kurt Cobain was . How could such a little bloke make such a noise.
I just loved their music right from the first listen...although I thought teen spirit was a rip off of "wild thing" on first listen.
I saw them at the 1st big day out ( that tv show last night was wrong..they didn't headline it ...Violent Fems did) and a couple of days later they played the Phonecian club .
They cancelled one gig due to Kurt being sick and then played one last gig at Selina's.

Back then the big day out was Syd only and only around 9000 tickets were sold.
I also remember watching Henry Rollins front the Hard Ons after Nirvana had played.

You know I always thought they were nice but a plunging neck line red dress is just about the best presentation she could have suggested.

Cute. Funny. Smart. What a sexy woman.

I thought it was a pointless exercise.

Whilst the majority of the albums on the list (Nevermind and Blood Sugar Sex Magic are the exceptions) don't take my fancy I respect the fact that the albums are considered "classics" and so on.

My problem with it was that it was the same old trite routine of picking favourite albums that ends up the same as in Rolling Stone, Mojo, Classic Rock or whatever. I'm yet to see a list anywhere that doesn't featre 2, sometimes 3, Beatles albums in close proximity to each other.

Until these kinds of polls start varying in these results I'll pay little or no attention to them.

How annoying was Judith Lucy, does she have to be sarcastic about everything ? And that guy from the Chaser wasn't much better. Oh, and Renee having a whinge about her favs not making it, you were supposed to be commenting on the merits of DSOTM you dumb cow.

Myf looked great.

Agreed. Myf looked awesome!

And Judith Lcuy and the bloke from the Chaser weren't funny in the slightest! I think they were there by default as they were on "My Favourite Movie" a few months back......

There is always going to be 2 or 3 Beatles albums on these kind of lists because their albums are so f***ing brilliant, and they are life changing. The Beatles are like Nirvana are to our generation, only times a billion.

You're missing the point. The majority of the population love these albums and have done for some time. Therefore, the results tend to be similar.

Good to see A Night At The Opera get a spot!

I have only just recently got "Grace" - being flogged a fair bit at the moment. Very emotionally charged. I agree with the drowing sounds... disgraceful.

And Myf - sexy as usual.
