Yeah, seems an awful fit for Larry Brown, at least defensively. Having said that, playing for a coach that emphasises defence, and with some defensive minded teammates, might actually help him out a fair bit. Could blossom under Brown.

Playing with some players that can cover his deficiencies though might bring out the best of him. Who would you rather - Bosh, Bargnani, Turkoglu or Gerald Wallace, Jackson, Thomas?

Anyway, Charlotte were a good defensive team last year, just struggled to score points consistently. A reliable shooter, ball-handler and creator is what they need. From their point of view, I don't like they gave up Chandler but Diaw was expendable and as Felton left, they needed a point. Old saying though, never trade big for small....

Stackhouse said he would play for the minimum on an ESPN show yesterday I think. Not an ideal fit IMO, not a consistent threat from outside.

For the Heat and of the players left (to my knowledge), I think Tim Thomas would be a good pickup (although would probably want more than the minimum), I still like Jason Williams there and Rasho Nesterovic. Yes, Rasho.

Ooh White Chocolate would be a great pickup for the Heat. Thought he did a pretty decent job of running the point for the Magic while Nelson was out.

Obviously past the point where he can consistently play serious minutes but I reckon he can give you a solid 15-20 mins a night.

Yep, he has some value. Poor rebounder for his size, but with Bosh, James & to a lesser extent Wade & Miller that's fine. Solid post defender, won't block shots but they only need him for the behemoths of the NBA anyway. Good shooting touch also so offers some floor-spacing ability.

Also like Ike Diogu for the Heat. A banger who would thrive as the third or fourth big-man to spark some offense in the second unit, like Glen Davis IMO. Eddie House is also available as a third / fourth point guard.

There's plenty of low value pick-ups available, they just need to get the right fits. Diogu & Rasho with White Chocolate and / or Eddie House provides (mostly) veteran guys who know their roles, offer value at that price and skills that should mesh with Wade, James & Bosh.

Haha, ditto. They need size, well I can volunteer. Not a 7 footer by any means, but willing! I'll take less than the minimum even, salary starting at $500k would be fine!

I'd be adding Raja Bell. He is on old legs but he wouldn't need to play big minutes. Also J-Will and Eddie House would be cheap and makes sense. Bring in Z and get back J.Anthony.

Still lots of old legs.

I agree with this mate. I also heard a rumor that Stackhouse is interested in joining the Heat.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tracy McGrady, Stackhouse etc go there...one last chance for a ring.

I still think T-Mc has a bit to offer. At least off the bench

Hopefully T-Mac comes to the Lakers, he has made no secret of his love for Kobe and that he would like to play in LA, get it done Mitch.

I hope T-Mac never wins. Same as Vince Carter. Both of those dogs don't deserve winning titles off the back of other guys.

chandler says he's headed from bobcats to raptors

Charlotte Bobcats center Tyson Chandler said Monday night he's been told he's being traded to the Raptors amid a report Toronto is also poised to send Hedo Turkoglu to the Phoenix Suns.
Chandler wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press that his agent, Jeff Schwartz, informed him that he's being traded. A Bobcats spokesman said no deal is complete, and general manager Rod Higgins didn't return messages seeking comment.
The Toronto Star reported the Suns would get Turkoglu and send guard Leandro Barbosa to the Raptors. Toronto would then move guard Jose Calderon and forward Reggie Evans to Charlotte for Chandler and forward Boris Diaw. The report said the complicated deal is pending league approval and could also include a trade exception for Charlotte.
The trade would help the Raptors rebuild after losing Chris Bosh to Miami in free agency. Turkoglu would get a new start after his disappointing one year in Toronto and the Suns would acquire a playmaker after losing free agent Amare Stoudemire to New York.
Calderon would give Charlotte a starting point guard after Raymond Felton signed with the Knicks. Dumping Chandler's $12.7 million salary would give owner Michael Jordan's team flexibility to make future moves.
``Yes I was told that I am being traded,'' Chandler wrote. ``To be honest I don't have much to say now except I'm excited about the upcoming season. I feel great and I know it will be a good one.''
Chandler's agent and Lon Babby, agent for Turkoglu didn't immediately return messages seeking comment.
If the deal goes through, Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo will be reunited with Barbosa and Diaw from his days in Phoenix. It will also mean the Raptors will unload Turkoglu and the $40 million still due on his contract signed last year when he left Orlando in free agency.
Turkoglu's numbers declined last season. He was held out of a game late last season after he was seen out on the town hours after sitting out a game complaining of a stomach virus. But the Suns expect Turkoglu to regain his scoring form from his last two seasons in Orlando.
The speedy Barbosa would help the Raptors move to a more uptempo offense without Bosh.
Charlotte deemed Diaw, due $18 million over the next two seasons, expendable after giving Tyrus Thomas a five-year, $40 million deal. Thomas, who signed the contract on Monday amid rumblings of the trade, is expected to replace Diaw in the starting power forward spot.
``I've started over 100 games in my career, playoffs,'' said Thomas, acquired from Chicago in February. ``Me starting is nothing new to me. ... I'm happy to be able to come back and play for the Bobcats and coach (Larry) Brown.''
Calderon would provide Charlotte with a better shooter than Felton, whom the Bobcats made no attempt to re-sign because they were so close to paying the luxury tax, a figure Jordan said they wouldn't exceed.
Calderon, who averaged 10.3 points and 5.9 assists last season, has been criticized in the past for his defense, an area the demanding Brown stresses. He's also still due about $30 million over the next three seasons.
Evans, due $5 million next season, would give the Bobcats more depth up front.
Chandler had an injury-plagued season in Charlotte after being acquired from New Orleans for Emeka Okafor last summer. He decided not to opt out of the final year of his contract last month and become a free agent.
``I'm not sure what other deals they have going on,'' Chandler said of the Raptors. ``But I feel like anywhere I go healthy I'll fit in.''

Am always fascinated to compare the two to Kobe.

They were both his equals in terms of talent. Just goes to show how big a part mentality plays in success.

Isn't it crazy to think that back when Kobe was going nuts and wanting out of LA, T-Mac was being talked about as a possible straight up swap for the Mamba. Look at their respective fortunues now.

Absolutely. Both guys should've been better, for longer. T-Mac to a degree has had his injury problems so I don't dislike him as much as Vince, but I'm not a fan of either.
