Yeah I read that the other week.

But if he finds an NBA roster he is free to play, that is the condition in his contract.

LOL and people laughed at me when I said both would fit with the Heat.
Absolutely - I still think both are dreadful fits. Both need the ball in their hands a lot, neither can space the floor and neither can play defence anymore. At this stage, they're players teams sign to sell a few extra tickets. The Heat don't need to do that - they've got 3 of the biggest names in the game.

T-Mac and AI also have injury question marks and attitude question marks to boot. Terrible, terrible fits for a team needing stability and cohesiveness in win it all mode.

That Chandler trade is horrible, unless they turn Dampier into something useful. And Jefferson to the Jazz is a great fit. Not as good as Boozer on the P&R but a better post scorer. Also allows AK to play the 4 with Al at centre, something they couldn't do with Boozer. Wonder what it means for Wes Matthews? Minny clear some cap space, free up the front-court and get some picks, so they must be happy.

If the Heat get Z, wow. Chalmers-Wade-James-Bosh-Ilgauskas to start with Miller & Haslem off the bench, add a veteran point guard and another big and that's a fantastic 9-man rotation. Fill out the roster with shooters and you're set.

Edit - and according to the Miami Sun-Sentinel, Juwan Howard is close to signing a minimum deal. There's their fourth big.

Agreed. AI and T-Mac don't play winning basketball and if they really want to show their desire to win and help teams then they should do it elsewhere. I really couldn't imagine the heat having any interest though as if Lebron wanted AI he would have got him at the cavs before he went to the grizz and sixers.

Must hurt Cavs fans to see Z in a heat uni!

Had a pretty nice season starting / coming off the bench for Portland last year. Not a star but again, it's about balance. They needed a veteran big in that rotation that knows how to play and defend and he fits the bill. If they add an unsigned rookie / young big man (Patrick O'Bryant, Nathan Jawai, Charles Garcia) on a minimum contract as well, they're set.

Oh I agree.

I don't think T-Mac and AI would be good for Miami...but I said I wouldn't be surprised if they are thought about in being brought in...and got laughed at. Turns out they are.

Injury prone players with bad attitudes who chuck, never won anything and don't play a team game?
 Spot on.

No doubt players like AI & T-Mac, and every other vet (like Juwan Howard) are wanting to sign there and play on the team to get a ring before they retire - just like PJ Brown for the Celtics a few years ago. But it's a question of fit and I don't see AI or T-Mac fitting. Of the two, I only see T-Mac getting serious consideration given how close he is with Mike Miller.

Anywhere but Orlando I would assume.

It's quite amazing the position that Wes Matthews is in. Was an undrafted rookie just last year and now, either way, is going to get a 5 year/$33 million deal.
