Jefferson has throw in a couple of clankers to begin his Spurs career. No doubt it will take him some time to adjust to his new situation.

Vintage performance from Duncan. Putting up great stats while still keeping within the team's offense.

Dear NBA Refs

Thanks for killing the Portland vs Denver game by deciding to turn the game into a free-throw shooting contest by calling a billion touch fouls. Truly horredous refereeing, but it went both ways so I don't think you can say either side really benefitted.

Jeez Melo looks slick atm. He was killing Portland in the 4th.

The guy is just such a natural at the offensive end. I mean compare him to Lebron. While Lebron is no doubt the better player, imo Melo is by far the more polished attacking weapon as he just has so much more in his arsenal. Since he decided to play both ways towards the end of last season, he's looked great. And to think I laughed at the notion of him being an MVP candidate. If he could just bump his assists, he'd be in with a shout.

And as for Mr. Bigshot Billups, way to go and live up to your rep by missing EVERY single big shot you took in the game, even when you were wide open from 18ft.

Scratch that....He WAS the Spurs offense...

Yeah that's true. My point was more that Duncan finds way's of putting up great stats without hogging the ball too much, which allows his other team-mates to also find their rhythm in the game.

Pity none of them decided to oblige the great man.

Dallas lose to the Jamison-less Wizards at home and now they beat the Lakers in Staples.

Bad loss. One positive was that Shannon Brown got some decent playing time and put up some reasonable stats.

So much for those 82-0 hopes.

I suppose I'd take 81-1.

Orlando are fkn scary. So deep this year...No Carter or Lewis and they're still dominating...

And how about Channing Frye...f**k me... he'll eclipse 4 seasons worth of 3 pointers in about 4 games with Phoenix...

Few things of note in todays game.

Channing Frye... What happened to him? He is a different player in Phoenix! 6/10 from the 3 ball zone... A Centre!

Jaiwai... Pretty sure his career in the NBA is over after sitting out all day today.

Phoenix are a scoring MACHINE. Grant hill is playing like he did when he was in Detroit.

Orlando are so deep. 17/32 3's and Dwight hitting 14-16 Free throws... Places them in fine form.

Also, Not sure what the think of the Miami/Chicago game. Miami came up with some big plays in the last quarter. And Jermain had a smaller game but came through in the last quarter IMO. Miami looking good with Haslem on the bench.

Very impressed with Carmelo Anthony's start to the season. 42 today. Granted it was against the Grizzlies but still.

Frye's numbers were awesome. If only STAT could start putting it together, Phoenix would be a dangerous offensive team. Defense will be an issue, then again, it's always been an issue with the Suns.

Melo's started the season on FIRE. Could be a legit MVP candidate come the end of the season.

Two most impressive teams thus far in the season would have to be Orlando and the Celts. As McLovin mentioned, the Magic are going great guns despite missing some key players. Celtics defense is effing great. Having KG and Sheed defending the paint is quite a scary proposition.

Source: Rondo deal worth at least $55M

Report: Celtics/Rondo Contract Extension

Yahoo! Sports reports that the Celtics and Rajon Rondo have reached a five-year contract extension

The deal is for five years and will be worth at least $55 million, a source confirmed to Bucher.
"It's not over yet, I haven't signed the papers yet," a smiling Rondo said Monday at the Celtics' practice facility. Asked if the sides were close, Rondo noted, "Very close."
"I'm excited, thankful, humbled," Rondo said. "Nothing changes, though. There's still one goal in mind. It's a great opportunity, but I'm focused on winning a championship."

Rondo and the team agreed to the deal late Sunday night, thanks in large part to what the 23-year-old guard has demonstrated since training camp began.

General manager Danny Ainge and owner Wyc Grousbeck balked at giving Rondo the kind of deal he wanted because of concern about his leadership skills and integration in the team fabric when negotiations began.
"They were candid and we understood," said Rondo's agent, Bill Duffy. "It was never about on the court. They wanted him to demonstrate being more of a leader, meshing with the team, being engaged in the locker room. Those issues have been squelched. I have to give a lot of credit to Ainge and Wyc. When there is an issue and you get it resolved, it's like a cleansing."

The Celtics and Rondo were faced with a Sunday midnight deadline to work out a deal. Had the sides not been able to come to an agreement on an extension, Rondo would have become a restricted free agent July 1. Yahoo! Sports first reported the agreement.

"There's always the possibility that there would be more money in a free-agent situation, even though it's harder for a restricted free agent," Duffy said. "But because Rajon is in such an ideal situation, it was my responsibility to promote continuity."
Duffy told Yahoo! Sports that he called Ainge on Sunday to inform him Rondo was prepared to play out his contract and become a restricted free agent next summer because they weren't satisfied with the team's offers. Ainge, according to Duffy, then gave ground to finish off the deal.

"I'm really happy," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Monday at practice. "He's earned it. He deserves it. It's great to get it in the past. Honestly, I didn't think it would have an impact whether it got done sooner, later, or now. I'm glad it's over with so we don't have to talk about it anymore."
Rondo's camp appeared prepared to scrap the idea of further talks and consider the matter of an extension closed as recently as last Monday. Yet a meeting Tuesday before Boston's first game in Cleveland between Ainge and Duffy resuscitated talks, with Boston making unspecified improvements to its previous offer.

Rondo is earning $2.3 million this season in the last year of his rookie contract. He averaged 11.9 points, 8.2 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game last season but pushed those averages to an impressive near triple-double in the playoffs with star forward Kevin Garnett sidelined.

Information from ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher, ESPNBoston.com's Chris Forsberg and ESPN.com NBA senior writer Marc Stein was used in this report.

Well deserved imo. Love watching him play. I suppose the Celts shopping him in the off-season was more an effort to pull his head in.

Not to mention Perk - that guy is such a good defender, not as good from the weakside as elite defenders (like KG) but his on-ball defence is so strong.

What's scary about Phoenix is Amare is only getting back into match condition and nowhere near 100% - yet the Suns are still 3-0 and look very comfortable. If (when) he gets back to full fitness they're going to be a difficult team - however the biggest issue with them, as always, is the lack of a bench. Good God it's a dreadful second unit, the starters will have to play 38+ minutes a night, yet again, just to make the playoffs.

Magic are looking great but geez that Celtics defence is suffocating. Should be a great battle out East, considering the Cavs now have West back and are working in 3 rotation players, give them a couple months and they could be clicking as well.

Out West Melo is on fire but surely he'll cool off - he's never shot above 50% for a season and considering he takes a lot of mid to long range shots it will be hard to keep that going, not to mention 14 free throw attempts per game.

I basically traded Melo for Joe Johnson...shame....

He's started the season great. He wont average 37 a game all year, probably closer to 30-31...
