i would prefer a christchurch team in the nrl, instead of a wellington team. that way there would be a south island team, and warriors could be the north island team

I like the idea of a NI/SI split however from past experience NZ is all about the JAFA's (just another f**king Aucklander) and the non-Aucklanders

Yep it needs to be Auckland (warriors) and rest of nz based in Wellington but representing the south island too and playing games in Christchurch and even Dunedin. They should also play trials in Greymouth in the only area outside south Auckland that is genuinely a rugby league area.

Yeh, if NZ ever did try a State of Origin type even, i would imagine it being closer to CityVCountry than North Island v South.

It would make sence as well regarding the numbers. Where noth island has about 7/9ths of the nations people, Auckland would have a bit under half (+ the area that gets the mot RL attention)

f**kin dreamers, 3rd world islands and 2 NZ sides in the revamped NSW Cup.

Bloody Hell, the warriors have been broke about 4 times in their short history.

Tbh i agree on the islands part, i think the money on flying a team over and back every other week would be better spent on developing the fijian domestic competition and creating some sort of nrl academy in fiji, which could then tour and play the australian/new zealand under 20 sides every year

New zealand has a history of competing in australian competitions so until some sort of agreement is put in place for better funding of the NZRL to support its own stable semi pro/pro competition then 2 or even 3 NZ sides (funded by the NRL) should be in the southern conference.

My other big concern is that in his initial layout the central coaat has been lunped in with the northern beaches. This region deserves its own standalone side in national competition so for richo to come up with that is grsossly unfair. Afterall the northern beaches already has manly in the nrl so has got national representation. Wyong/roosters have done a fantastic job in the past 2 years and are in the early stages of establishing the nrl pathway. Imo if the bears have no future, the central coast should be included in the southern conference as the roosters feeder.

I like the idea of the Fiji premiers playing the PNG premiers

We should look to add a Tonga premiers v Samoa premiers clash

Maybe expanding into Pacific Island 4 way club championship

But I would rather see a $400k grant for a Eastern League based around a NZ Cup

The reason i like the Island nations being a part of this League is the prestige factor....

Fiji, Samoa, etc. will probably never get domestic teams playing in any other major competition. The fact that they would go out every second week to represent their home and bring teams from right across Australia to play on home soil would be a big draw.

We have seem with PNG the level of fanaticism that RL can achieve in these places, i think this would be worth the investment...

My question is how many pacific island and nz teams should compete

Why stop at second NZ team and a Fiji team

What about other nations like Samoa or Tonga or South Island NZ

And we still dont have a Dubbo or Coffs team in the NSW Cup yet

Soccer's model.of lots of donestic leagues that feed a national team or a regional club champion seems to work the best in a multi national arrangement

Do you dropkick dreamers understand what 3rd world means.

These are tiny island nations with massive poverty issues and you dopes dream of flying teams in and out on a weekly basis. Absolutely, no knowledge of the real world.

Bloody hell, the Australian education system has a lot to answer for.

Last I heard Fiji had $4 million to throw at League but if its anything like their religion the Pacific Island nations will have their teams bivouacked in Australia, an appearance at home now and again is all they need . . . more interested in a team than home games they are

I think it was a telecommunications company that will to throw the money in for a team in the NSW Cup, good stuff. But to be honest, I will believe a Fijian side lasting more than 2-3 years when I see it.
