Oh no we have a new winner. Canberra/south west playing as Parkes Spacemen. Hahahaha.

Oh my sides.

We need to get mongs from Sydney to talk about country NSW geography more on here. It's f**king priceless.

I'm not overly concerned about their ability to win comps - exposure at a high level is more important for these areas.

However - since the NRL seems so willing to piss money against a wall while refusing tooth and nail to give it to the clubs who actually play the game and pay and develop players and bring in crowds, I'm sure they can afford to fund a couple of bush teams to the tune of half a million a year. It would be the best thing they've ever done for the bush.

That money is needed to ferry our hardworking ARLC board members and NRL execs around Sydney from meeting to meeting in limos. Bush footy needs refs and equipment and lower rego fees and buses or financial help with all the travel they have to do. It is pointless having good development pathways for bush footy if there is no one playing footy in the bush. But of course any club or organisation that asks the NRL for 'their' money or even some input into how the money is allocated is branded selfish and greedy by the brains trust here.

Maybe look at expansion nationally and internationally instead of small time shit like NSW Cup. Richardson is a flop. A big fat belly flop into a pool of shit, specifically.

So has Greenberg. How does Shane Richardson even know what is best for junior development and country footy in general without even consulting the CRL? Both have obviously been given a mandate to change the game but according to whose vision? Dave Smiths?

Why, because some other sports do it that way and some losers on a forum have arbitrarily decided it's the best way?

Clubs have been developing Rugby League players to superstar athletes for over 100 years. A lot of criticisms can be levelled at how clubs operate but junior development is probably their strongest talent. What juniors have the NRL ever developed?

This will be more rationalising of dedicated organisations (as if it's advantageous to bush footy to absorb the CRL into the NSWRL), more cutting out of experienced people.

The ARLC wants the clubs to be nothing more than colours and a logo that play in the NRL so there is nothing lost if they're cut or threaten to quit.

The ARLC doesn't seem to think much of treating their stakeholders like shit. The RLPA was promised a seat at the table when the draw was done and they just ignored that. To come up with this whole plan without consulting the NSWRL or CRL is more of the same, its like they want everyone at their throat.

I have no doubt it's a power play by the ARLC.

Step 1 take 2nd division away from clubs, and scrap U20s.

Step 2 Take junior comps away from clubs and implement a draft.

What is left? A professional football franchise with no financial or personal connection to an area, just the word Penrith or Canterbury.

A lot easier to cut a team or move a team to Perth if they don't hold any useful role in the greater game isn't it?

Step 3 Rationalise Sydney

Why?

The quality of the AFL, NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, CFL, etc, etc hasn't gone down because the clubs/franchises don't control junior development, in some of those leagues the quality has gone down over the past decade or two because of their not being enough talent to support the amount of clubs/franchises in the competition, but I've seen no evidence to suggest that the clubs not controlling junior development has anything to do with that.

NBA?! NFL?! NHL?! You are a complete goose for citing those organisations about junior development. Those organisations pay $0 for junior development. They leave it up to the US college system to do the work for them. Talk about having no friggin idea

Yeah the 'US' system for lack of a better word is set up to help the pro teams avoid spending money on junior development. But they have the college system which(amongst other things exploits a lot of kids for huge profits) Australia will never have so its beyond stupid to make that comparison.

It's all ego. It has to be. No one could be this stupid so it must be pure power and arrogance. The commission was set up wrong from the start, built a culture of arrogance from day one and developed a ridiculous agenda as a result.

The 'Independent Commission' was meant to be independent from News Ltd, not independent from anyone who has a f**king clue about Rugby League.

There's talk of two NZ sides joining this comp.

The Warriors will likely use both as feeder teams, just like the Queensland NRL clubs each use multiple feeder clubs in the QLD Cup.

Brisbane have six affiliate clubs meanwhile under this new proposal NSW clubs will be lucky not to be sharing a team with another club or two.

NQ has three clubs & the GC has two.
When a second Brisbane NRL team comes in they'll take a couple off the Broncos.

Nothing has been officially announced by the ARLC yet, don't you think it's better to wait and see what that actual plan is instead of jumping on the ARLC's back?

Not having a go at Brisbane for having six. Just pointing a part of this proposal that seems dumb to me.

No, I much prefer the Rabble Rabble Rabble method.

Rule Number 1, if you want a particular outcome in a situation which is being reviewed, do not wait until they report. You state your problems early on.

If you wait for the proposal to come out, the body who made the report will defend it to the hilt as they will see any change as being a loss of face/authority for its proponents.

I bet any money if this geniused idea gets the go ahead that the Bears will still exist in some form and the North Shore will still be stuck in an awkward limbo.

central coast bears should be allowed into the nrl, but the bears should keep their north sydney junior area. all the home games should be at gosford, except for 1 game each year on heritage round, which should be at north sydney oval. the bears keeping that connection to the north sydney area would help them get sponsorships from the area.
