All this forning over Bennett is sickening.

If they were playing internationals next weekend he would lose a minimum of 3 players FFS so it's not as if his team is devoid of talent?

Yes the man can coach but he certainly has had a charmed life with rosters and the notion that he can make water into wine is a step to far.

People obviously thinking he is a messiah for those that can't play have forgotten about his tenure at Newcastle which is the 1 club where he didn't have a cupboard full of jewels.

Not half as sickening as the unseemly calisthenics you're doing to badmouth Bennett. Grow up ffs. The guy's clearly one of the top two coaches of all time - yesterday wasn't the first against-the-odds win he's pulled off, he's been doing it for decades.

ps at Newcastle he took them to a prelim final and might have gone further the following year had McKinnon not broken his spine and Nathan Tinkler not stopped paying the bills

No old timer I for one don't think he is a messiah , and I don't want him back here said this many times , just on yesterday's performance they did well , wether they and Bennett can keep it going , time will tell ...... Do I think they will finish on top of us , I say yes , Hook or Bennett, better coach leave that to you ...... Who has a better squad 🤔 them or us ? So if its down to coaches Bennett wins this one ......

I note OT that you might have a bit of a set to against Bennett ! When you can point out a better mentor, tactician and skills coach i'll be interested to see who that might be. The shitfight at Newcastle had more to do with Tinkler than Bennett. Put it this way the Dragons biggest mistake ever was not signing him for 5 years !!!!

I'm not bad mouthing him I'm simply stating the facts he isn't coaching a team of pie eaters and he beat a team that starts notoriously bad at the beginning of most seasons.

Tell me a club where he didn't have a great roster and the answer is Newcastle and his results were not great and the best you can come up with in his defence is Alex Mc Kinnon now evidently a player that could have won you a premiership on his own and Tinkler who had lined Bennett's pockets with plenty of $$$$$$ as the lure to get him and a few good signings there.

Here's a fact !!! He's the best coach in the NRL, followed by Bellamy and Robinson.

While Bennett will go down as one of the greatest coaches, he has had some pretty good rosters to work with. The Broncos of the 90s were stacked with SOO and international players, the Dragon's were regular semi final contenders and he put the finishing touches to it.

The age old question of does a coach make a team or does a team make a coach I don't think will ever be answered as top line coaches generally won't go to bottom feeder teams and tarnish their reputations. It would be nice to see a Bellamy, Robinson or Bennett go to say a Warriors or Tigers or the Dragons and see if they can get them to contend regularly with the squads they have but unlikely to happen.

I think it is answered, at least in this code. Coaches make the team. 1) They make the players better 2) They make better players want to join them.

Bellamy went to Melbourne in 2003 after they'd finished out of the finals 2 years straight. They've not missed the finals since (cheating penalties aside).
When Robinson took over at the Roosters they'd also missed the finals 2 years in a row.
Bennett has had success at every club and at every level he's coached at.

I can agree with you to a certain extent, but then if we use the roster excuse we can start putting Cleary up there. Bennett has achieved in multiple scenario's, he has taken on multiple challenges and proved what an outstanding coach he is. He just gets the best out players and makes them believe.
