Don't blame his manager, blame Ben Hunts manager.
This.....every half in the comp was re-evaluating their value the minute the goons paid massive overs for Hunt.
Really?? Whilst i love a good Stain bashing in Maloney's case it is not warranted.
Hunt's manager did his job, and he did it well.
Every player and manager knew the salary cap was increasing from next year, thats why there are so many players off contract this year.
Who are the highest paid players on the field? The players who play in the spine.
Letting a SOO representative 5/8th sign a contract going into a salary cap increase year, without an upgrade attached, should be sacked.
Maloney is a helluva lot better player than Hunt, Bird, Townsend, Holmes, Reynolds, Moses etc but next season, if he is still with us, he will be on less money (unless we find some cash and can give him an upgrade).
Any manager that didn't have the foresight to see this happening should be shot.

Nobody said he didn't, do well, he took the Dragons for a ride and got his client a good deal. Ever since that deal every half in the comp is comparing themselves to Hunt and valuing themselves higher.

Yep Hunt will be the highest paid half next
year.

But where does he rank amongst halves?

Just this little exercise shows the stupidity of St. Merge.

Pretty sure the knights have no 7.
Hodkinson is puss.

You're using Hunt as an example when he signed his contract this year, and yes it applies to any halves that also signed this year but has nought to do with Maloney agreeing to play with us two years ago. A better example would be any other half who has played SOO and won a Grand Final who also happened to sign a contract that year, DCE ring a bell? He signed that year for his million a season and his achievements are pretty close to Maloney's. Did anyone think DCE was worth that much at the time? Take in mind that Manly filtered in the raise in salary cap. Thurston was/is getting it but he deserves it.
Now I'm taking Special K's comment as if Maloney signs for Newcastle next year he is on $900k, which is a rise of 50%, meaning he is on $450k now.
At the time were DCE and Maloney that big a difference in playing levels? No way.
This is why i think Maloney's manager hasn't done him any favours. He only came to the Sharks because of the three year contract, if he'd only signed for two, with anyone, he'd be getting huge bucks next year no matter what.
Hope that made it clearer as to what i was getting at.

I hope the club keeps Maloney until his contract is up. Doesn't seem to be many options out there for replacement for 2018.

Not as confident as most of you thinking that Cronk could happen, the price tag and being untested for another club worries me. Great attacking kicker none-the-less but other than that.. Looks good amongst winners.

The Hartleys have a stack of "reduced to clear" brown paper bags. Get Lyall to pinch a couple from DCE's joint.

Wack something in it and give it over to Jimmy's Mother In Law.

Keep him happy till the official upgrade is on the table.

Hypothetically if we gain Cronk next season would you prefer he partners with Chad? Nu Brown or someone else?

A statue of Gal so big,it straddles the approaches to the Cap Cook Bridge, should be in the design stage by now.
The naming title should be called" Fists of steel". Or" Bunker Buster"

Cronulla have done a wonderful job of retaining the nucleus of the side that won the club's maiden premiership, although one of the title winners is likely to be on the way out.

Gerard Beale has been a solid contributor for the Sharks since making the switch from cross-town rivals St George Illawarra, but he remains off-contract. The Kiwi international is highly regarded in the Shire, but the value of premiership-winning players rises and you can't keep them all.

Can anybody confirm that we have signed the big fella from the Cows? Because after being named 20 times this year, he is finally debuting this weekend
