At the game the only time I noticed him was when he made a mistake

Moylan had a couple of fumbles, but the defensive error of Jennings led to the Queensland try, and was a greater error than all by Moylan combined. It was the error that cost NSW the game. Have a look at it. Mansour had to take the centre because Jennings got no-one. This left Gagai unmarked on the outside. Appalling mistake by one so experienced, yet no-one is calling for Jennings to be dropped.

To be honest, most of Jennings Origin career has been underwhelming. Has scored a couple of great tries but hasn't really performed consistently in the sky blue.

Did Adam Reynolds have a good game last night? No. Was he terrible though? No. My only problem were pundits talking up how good his kicking game was, and how central it would be to a win, and how much better his kicking game is than anyone else's. Yet last night his kicking was generally shit. I cannot recall a long kick of his that found grass, it seemed to find one of Boyd, Oates or Gagai on the full every time.

I wish some of our pundits would just shut the hell up as they are the one who contribute to the anguish/disappointment we wind up feeling when we lose. They build up false expectations which makes the "crash" following a loss greater. That is what happened with Reynolds in my book. I would not drop him for game 2.

If there is any blame for this squad, it belong with Laurie Daley and Bozo Fulton and co. They picked the side. They came up with the stupid interchange strategy which saw only 2 bench players used in the first half, with the third used 3 minutes into the 2nd half and the 4th used in the last 10minutes of the match! Those people showed they have no idea what they are doing and that they are the central problem for NSW.

Shit. Will have to rewatch. I thought Jackson did well chopped people down and his hit ups were decent. Cords was nowhere. I'd stick with Moylan and replace Walker.

You must've watched a different game, Jackson had 55m, Cordner made 121m

I agree that Jennings isn't the threat he seems to be. Swapping him for Jack Bird would be worth consideration. Jennings does a lot of stepping but never really seems to break the line.

Moylan had a poor game. Catch the ball on the full Matt! Don't leave it to Fergo. Catch it!

Reynolds missed a crucial conversion. Apparently Maloney has been kicking goals at a higher % the last month than Reynolds. Maloney has been 10% more accurate this past month. Maybe JM has easier shots, but maybe not. It cost us the game (amongst other things).

A former player was saying that NSW had too many of the same type of player, not enough variety in body type, style, etc. I can see this is true with Bird/Cordner/Jackson who are all the same player really. Maybe Frizell and Danny Wicks could be swapped in.

It must have been a tactic to repeatedly kick on the 4th tackle and to kick it straight to Darius Boyd. Maybe they wanted to tirer him out? Not a fan. I say used the whole set and kick for open spaces.

Exactly this. I don't have time to go through all my thoughts from last night but this is the one I'm surprised isn't getting more air time.

For the most part we picked a team to play a certain way (Less Walker who I genuinely felt sorry for). getting QLD on the back foot and playing through them. we did that for about 15-20 minutes in the first half and in that time scored a try an had QLD going backwards. Then in the second half we went away from that and started going sideways and It cost us the game

Gus and Joey were both visibly ropable after the game and were spot on in their comments.. both have forgotten more about football than that spastic Loz.

Honestly I don't think we need changes in the side. I don't think any individual players being admitted or omitted would have made much of a difference.

The massive problem that needs to be addressed is the game plan (on top of the horrible use of interchange). The tactics were way too predictable - yes I'm sure they're calling it "origin footy" but at the end of the day no questions were being asked of the opposition. If you've got a side full of above average players use them.

Coaching is more the issue than personnel.

Spot on. NSW were most dangerous when punching through the line running straight and winning the PTB. The Cordner try was the perfect example. Create momentum and isolate a defender with a hard hole run.

They do not have the combinations or crisp passing game to go around QLD. Moylan was far too lateral on sweep plays and created nothing. That stuff works in club land but not at this level.

NSW right edge did nothing because Jackson and Morris are no threat running the ball. Reynolds started panicking and trying to get it wide but again QLD ate up lateral stuff.

NSW had momentum when Fifita and Klemmer were making inroads. They should have put Walker on them to run from DH and back up forwards who could offload.

We need a team of match winners.. players that can create stuff from nothing like hayne use to do.

Moylan was ok in attack but simply put, Tedesco is better
Austin/Cartwright on the bench as the utility.
Reynolds was the 'safe' choice because of his kicking. But he doesn't even run the ball or put backrowers into gaps.
Has jackson ever made a linebreak in his life. Get rid of this 'origin is all about defence' mentality.

And we also need a coach that encourages creativity. Why was there barely any offloads. That was the only time we looked dangerous

the NSW team last night was crying out for someone like Bryce Cartwright, James Tedesco or *gulp* BJ Leilua to make something out of nothing.

If Bryce Cartwright isnt picked over Josh f**king Jackson then the state selectors deserve to lose

Since some are bringing up Farah's kicks to the in goal like they were works of art, he kicked the ball from dummy half straight into a QLD player and it just happened to go between Corey Parkers legs.

His next kick to the in goal was on the back of NSW's best set of the game on the 4th tackle when they had the QLD edge in all sorts and he kicked into a 5m gap. It was not that great of an option or play considering the circumstances and if not for Gagai's fumble it would have been very poor considering they had a good chance to score.

Byrce or Wade Graham could have created something. BJ is a tough one, the bloke is a legit genius but when it comes off he is unstoppable

Hi Spot On.
How did your game plan go

As predicted, he didn't have to do a lot. When we finally got a few kicks to him around the 60 min mark he dropped a high ball and fumbled one on the ground giving NSW repeat sets.

As predicted, they failed to target him for most of the game. When they did, we got the repeat sets needed and of course, the NSW attack goes sideways. Waste of repeat sets.

Dane wasn't required to return the ball. Boyd played wing and fullback it seems and had a huge game. He was everywhere at he back. However, I can't stand watching Darius dive on the ground at defenders's feet instead of returning the ball. He certainly doesn't do the position justice when you think of the truly great fullbacks who loved returning the ball, no matter what was in front of them.

Unfortunately, anyone can read the NSW game plan before each game (as often there isn't one, and if there is they don't know how to implement it). Even you'd get close 1qaz. ;-)

Dane is proving himself to be a much better winger than a centre or fullback though, that is for sure. It's definitely his go. Unfortunately, no team wants a 575K winger.
