Considering he's only dropped probably 1 bomb all year, and didn't drop any high pressure kicks against Roosters in abysmal weather he is pretty safe. So you'd rather arguably the most damaging attacking player in the game line up against QLD?

Problem with rookies is people expect them to carry club form into origin and get shocked when they don't perform. Has there ever been a stand out origin performance debut apart from Joey Johns?

Don't remember the first game but I do remember late in his career him saying he wanted to dominate origin like wally. I think he had two games like wally.

Origin at Lang Park can make your 'most damaging attacking player in the game' look like a putz.

Teddy is different gravy.

He'll relish Origin at Suncorp.

For the love of God he's NSW best player so pick him.

This is the main reason you can give a player the series. Debuts don't get worse than that. He turned out to be a great rep player. Unless a player is completely destroyed in defence like a Turner, Merritt or Williams. You can look past a quiet performance or uncharacteristic mistakes.

Brett Morris started out shocking at rep footy. Took 5 or 6 games before proving he deserved it and when he did he never looked back. Some players take longer to get comfortable then others. Then you have guys like Gidley and Pearce who get nearly unlimited chances without so much as a hint of delivering a standout performance.

Hey if you guys are interested in a centre there is a fat baby at Canberra who is probably the best player in the comp at the moment. Certainly the best centre. Now as the Raiders have a disease called RAIDS and one of the symptoms of RAIDS is choking the second you are hyped up at all expect BJ to stink it up against the Broncos but he would actually fit the Walker bench role because Daley can just chuck him on the field to break some tackles and run amok.

Yeah yeah i know his history too but his form is out of this world.

Exactly. What's to f**kin lose? It's QLD 1-0 going into a game at Lang Park. The series is good as gone. Most of the numpties in Blue crumble up there.

Put him in and let him f**kin rip in!

If Origin had been 11-a-side since 2006, we wouldn't have lost as many series.

And on a separate issue, Cameron Smith would not have been as effective in the 80's as he has been in the '00.

You're going off the subject, you know where i'm coming from. I'm fed up of dour Origin matches over the last 10 years. Possibly Origin I 2014 was an entertaining match, but there hasn't been two on the trot since 2005 IMO. Something has to change, defences have become so much better since 2005, so the only antidote to that is to reduce the number of people on the pitch.

Again, just on Leilua. Origin is all about attitude, especially in defence, and i just dont see BJ digging in when NSW have 3-4 sets on their line. He doesnt have the mentality that ive ever seen to excel in that kind of pressure environment

you make it sound like NSW have a chance up there.

put him in and let him go for it in that environment. defensively, that side will probably be pantsed (Ferguson outside him, Reynolds inside), but it would be good entertainment seeing him let loose in such a game.

This attitude is why NSW have struggled to score more than 10 points a game for years.

It's time to be aggressive and focus on the positive things the players can do with the ball, not the potential negatives.

Get Jack Bird in at right centre. And put Cartwright and BJ on the bench. All of a sudden that's a team that looks capable of scoring 3-4 tries a game.

If you pick BJ you pick him at centre imo. Bird is a better utility. I agree with Tommy though, picking players on what their attitude is or their perceived toughness etc is silly. Sure if you have two guys performing at a similar level than that stuff can be used to split them but when you have Josh Morris currently playing like shit or BJ currently carving up all comers then just pick the guy in great form.

I never imagined Jennings digging in defensively until he got picked and had to do it. Same for a guy like Dane Gagai. I never thought just Dugan could play tough until I saw him go round in origin.
