We’ve been to there old stadium, long time ago, Rhys was still playing for us, maybe 2005. So yes looking forward to a week in a resort on Magnetic Island and taking in the game.

You’ll be impressed by CBus Stadium it is a fine stadium, a little out of the way, so you’ll need to plan ahead as there is no parking at the ground so public transport, hotel shuttle or Uber/taxi will be required. There was a pub nearby where Panthers fans used to meet before the game, one year we were there Gus organised a speaker to attend the pub and interact with fans pre game. I don’t know whether this still happens now.

I went to the old one. Luke Walsh days so maybe 2011.
The new one is right in the centre of the city much better located

Taking games to Campbelltown is a good idea. Tigers are a trainwreck so we can win over some new supporters there.

With the upgrades to The Northern Road it is a quicker trip now, less than a hour. Definitely a viable option.

Both ends are actually quite tight, but the southern end is the tightest.

I wonder if they’d consider encroaching south or north? South more likely because if you went north you’d have to close the Ransley St, but that’s not necessarily impossible.

I think it's worth investigating the closure (partial at the Station Street end) of Ransley Street and make it large pedestrian plaza, plus providing a larger northern end. The western end away from the stadium can remain open to retain vehicular access for the buses, outside broadcast trucks, etc.. with access off Mulgoa Road. Outside of stadium usage, I don't think that it is a highly used road in terms of local traffic, and can probably be absorbed by Jamison Road to the south and Union Road to the north.

That would be my preference. Opens the place up to more activities

The grandstand will be of a design which will keep the supporters sheltered from rain. So the one end of the grandstand will shade most of the Sun. And it's not like every round is a day game.

Waiting for Pomoz and Smug Panther's reaction to this will be rich I'm sure. :)

3/8 games a weekend are day games, which happen to coincide with the sun setting. No one in their right mind is going to build a stadium running from east to west. Forget about it.

Also they specifically build grandstands so they don’t block too much of the sun hitting the pitch. If you look at the roof of parramatta the edge has a clear part to allow more sunlight in to help the grass grow. At the SCG they built the new roof of the Bradman stand to allow sunlight in from the north.

The playing surface needs to be as good as it is now. We want our wingers diving onto a lush carpet of green to minimise injuries and just lately, we seem to do a lot of diving over to score tries! We need to have the best stadium for the players first and build everything around that. We want both teams to produce the best game they can and that will maximise the chance of getting spectators in the first place. A comfy no glare seat, with rain cover and access to toilets and tasty food will mean nothing if the grass is bare and the players are dropping the ball with the sun in their eyes. Imagine watching a Tigers v Titans game every week.........

When the North and South ends are closed off, sun glare will be reduced significantly. I suspect the East grandstand will also have a better roof line that will help minimise glare as well. It's going to be awesome!

Feedback for the new Penrith Stadium.

Focussed on providing better services for those with disabilities, but also consideration for public art showcasing the club's history, and also a space for a museum (one can only dream).

Someone posted in one of the Panthers FB pages that there was a news report on the radio about the new stadium being built where the showground now is.

Can't find anything about it, however there was a vote with the showground members in 2018 which was unanimous on exploring alternative locations.

But I can't find anything after that date - the 2020/21 annual report makes no reference to it. Understandable with COVID and the like.

That would make sense. Could improve the whole area.

Certainly would fix the error they made with Parramatta. No parking stations or bus interchange was just done

Parking is a big mistake for a stadium. I know people in Sydney love their cars, but you really can’t move a lot of people in a short time with cars. It’s all about public transport.

I would’ve preferred to see Parramatta closer to the train line, but if lack of parking was a huge deal then the crowds wouldn’t be so healthy at Parra.

I can't remember there being too many Thursday or Friday night games for Parra there. Certainly not since Covid crowds are no more

Sat or Sun. Not so much because you can plan your day better.

The surrounding streets get packed at Penrith on game days. That is with Parking available at the Paceway

The surrounding streets getting packed is exactly why parking for a stadium is bad.

if you must do parking the best option is parking 2-3km away from the stadium and have shuttle buses take people there. The lack of parking at Parra was done on purpose.

And they wonder why people aren't attending events.

need to give people options
