The Salient points there are ..... "While the return of NRL teams to Christchurch after a four-year absence – and the Storm’s first-ever match in the South Island" and only "12,000-strong crowd" and somehow this level of support can sustain a full time NRL team... Not that you would understand this, but there is a Tui add in there.

Nope

when the op started this I was wondering what the response would be from kiwi rugby league fans

sadly not many of them actually responded in this thread

their thoughts on where the team should be based and if using multiple cities could work would’ve been interesting

like I believe the dolphins will harm the lions and afl in qld, I always thought a second nz side would greatly weaken an already vulnerable rugby union
I assume less have actually responded because you've clearly ignored the responses of the ones who have and then added in a bit of abuse to go along with it.

Your biggest issue is that you've accused anyone who is not fully onboard with your delusion as not being a fan of league because you have a myopic view of us vs them, which most NZers don't share.

We've told you time and time again that we, as NZ league fans, are worried about the state of the game at lower levels in NZ with concrete examples of why and that a team in Chch/Welly or combined will do little to improve things. I've said multiple times I'm happy for another team in NZ even though I doubt it will be successful as the fanbase for league has shrunk in the past few years. A one off game n Christchurch does not translate to week in week out support.

We've also told you that if you think rugby is vulnerable then league is essentially flatlining on the operating table - better get the defibrillator asap. You just stick your fingers in your ears and poke out your tongue.

We've told you the problems with a team based in multiple cities, especially in the combinations suggested, more fingers in the ears.

@Pneuma is correct, this thread is one big troll, it's fun in smallish doses which is why I pop my head in every so often. But, 99% of the stuff you spout about league and rugby in NZ is complete bollocks.

The thing is the absolutely don't care about League in NZ, all they care about is fighting a "war' against a mythical enemy. Something the VAST majority of the NZ population think is ludicris.

Camera side stand must have not been full, looked more than 66% full on TV. 12k is a good pass for a trial. Not great, not terrible. Shows there's something to build on

As I said some of the league fans were quite positive

ngl you need to watch the nrl regularly and understand how nrl operates regarding juniors to get it

trying to want rugby league in New Zealand to be like union isn’t how it’s going to go

the nrl has absolutely no problems generating kiwi juniors that’s solely a union problem

you keep saying one off games there were two on the weekend with fantastic crowds.

maybe if you weren’t so negative about rugby league I might take your posts more seriously

It's official. You are a moron. There was a game in ChCh, where was the second you wally?

The NRL has no problem "generating Kiwi juniors" because they are ALL BORN OR RAISED IN AUSSIE. You have previously listed ten "kiwi" juniors who are set to become "stars", 7 were born and raised in Aussie and the other three moved to aussie when they were 12-13.

You have no idea the state of League in NZ, you have no idea about anything it seems.

That is a good point, most Kiwis in the NRL come through Australian systems, not NZ ones. Would that change with a second NRL team in Wellington? I guess it might but Australian clubs are still going to be out scouting for the best 14-15 year olds to entice to Oz.

Only Marginally, the Warriors have been at it for almost 30 years and it's still going backwards.

Another example of why Australian Tv isnt going to be falling over itself for a second NZ club. By far the lowest rating game over the two week trial comp.

"But... but... but... SkyTV will still pay massive amounts even though they didn't before SparkTV was around, and wont be the next time the deal is up for renewal, they have to because of spurious reasons!!!!! "

So nobody from australia was watching for the warriors ?

cmon buddy you can do better than that

it was a bad timeslot which only an nz team will fill
what 12.30 Sunday is a spot Australian clubs cant play in?
clearly not many given wk1 results as well.

Well playing in the bad time slots will do that lmao

the warriors are valuable for taking those bad slots Aussie clubs don’t want for their home games

see?

Id have thought itd be easier to sell sunday 12.30 to fans than Thursday night?
Point still stands though, warriors dont draw on australian tv and that will be something they know and will consider when they think about how much club 18 is worth to them.
