Things rarely are
A strong business case/Finances where the players are gets in. Outside of that money wins
Things rarely are
Doesn't even need to be govt. NZRL backing a bid will allow the changes needed for a viable team over there
NRL FOOTY MAKES TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO CANTERBURY - Canterbury Rugby League – Home to the Canterbury Bulls
The NRL returned to Canterbury in spectacular style on Sunday as a 12,000-strong crowd packed out Rugby League Park to watch Melbourne Storm and the Warriors produce a physical and entertaining final trial in scorching conditions. The Storm came home with a wet sail to win 24-6 after trailing at...canterburyrugbyleague.co.nz
I assume less have actually responded because you've clearly ignored the responses of the ones who have and then added in a bit of abuse to go along with it.Nope
when the op started this I was wondering what the response would be from kiwi rugby league fans
sadly not many of them actually responded in this thread
their thoughts on where the team should be based and if using multiple cities could work would’ve been interesting
like I believe the dolphins will harm the lions and afl in qld, I always thought a second nz side would greatly weaken an already vulnerable rugby union

Your biggest issue is that you've accused anyone who is not fully onboard with your delusion as not being a fan of league because you have a myopic view of us vs them, which most NZers don't share.
We've told you time and time again that we, as NZ league fans, are worried about the state of the game at lower levels in NZ with concrete examples of why and that a team in Chch/Welly or combined will do little to improve things. I've said multiple times I'm happy for another team in NZ even though I doubt it will be successful as the fanbase for league has shrunk in the past few years. A one off game n Christchurch does not translate to week in week out support.
We've also told you that if you think rugby is vulnerable then league is essentially flatlining on the operating table - better get the defibrillator asap. You just stick your fingers in your ears and poke out your tongue.
We've told you the problems with a team based in multiple cities, especially in the combinations suggested, more fingers in the ears.
@Pneuma is correct, this thread is one big troll, it's fun in smallish doses which is why I pop my head in every so often. But, 99% of the stuff you spout about league and rugby in NZ is complete bollocks.
NZRL has no money! Have you seen their accounts?Doesn't even need to be govt. NZRL backing a bid will allow the changes needed for a viable team over there
As I said some of the league fans were quite positiveI assume less have actually responded because you've clearly ignored the responses of the ones who have and then added in a bit of abuse to go along with it.

ngl you need to watch the nrl regularly and understand how nrl operates regarding juniors to get it
trying to want rugby league in New Zealand to be like union isn’t how it’s going to go
the nrl has absolutely no problems generating kiwi juniors that’s solely a union problem
you keep saying one off games there were two on the weekend with fantastic crowds.
maybe if you weren’t so negative about rugby league I might take your posts more seriously
That is a good point, most Kiwis in the NRL come through Australian systems, not NZ ones. Would that change with a second NRL team in Wellington? I guess it might but Australian clubs are still going to be out scouting for the best 14-15 year olds to entice to Oz.
So why didn’t anyone in australia want to watch the storm on tvAnother example of why Australian Tv isnt going to be falling over itself for a second NZ club. By far the lowest rating game over the two week trial comp.

cmon buddy you can do better than that
it was a bad timeslot which only an nz team will fill
Well playing in the bad time slots will do that lmaowhat 12.30 Sunday is a spot Australian clubs cant play in?
clearly not many given wk1 results as well.
Id have thought itd be easier to sell sunday 12.30 to fans than Thursday night?Well playing in the bad time slots will do that lmao
the warriors are valuable for taking those bad slots Aussie clubs don’t want for their home games
see?
