And doubling down on it now... the cringe just gets worse... your comprehension skills are terrible. I didn't think you could make a bigger fool out of yourself, but, well there you went and did it.

And yet again you fail... yikes it's getting worse by the minute. It's your reading comprehension that is failing. I will give you a hint, to see if you can dig your way out of your hole... the relevant word in the sentence you failed to read correctly is "is".. now try again.

If arlc was really serious about nz they’d be upping the nzrl grant from under $1million to at least $10million. Until then it’s just Lip service and the Australian clubs will continue to plunder the best 15 year olds and take them into the Australian system. adding a second nz nrl club won’t do anything until nzrl has the resources to grow grass roots across the country starting with the schools system where rl’s presence is pathetic.

Keep on dreaming.
The Australian Rugby Union did go out of its way to antagonise rugby league 25 years ago. John O'Neill spoke about rugby union aiming to overtake rugby league as the number two sport in the country. He raided the Queensland Rugby League of Origin players when we could ill afford to lose them. Sailor. Rogers. Tuquiri.

The GPS system favours rugby union. Even a fair few of the independent Catholic schools favour rugby union.

Ironically, rugby union's decline in Australia over the last two decades is due to the success it enjoyed during the late 90s and early 00s. Australia's success was based on strong player combinations at state level. The Brumbies were successful because their squad was made up of players who played alongside one another for years. Similar for Queensland, who were strong throughout the 80s and 90s with a settled squad. These players made their way into the Wallabies and gelled because of their time playing together for Queensland and ACT. Once the Force were introduced it led to player combinations breaking up. The Reds were decimated the most and the game never recovered. Australian rugby union didn't have a large enough player base to support a fourth team. They will continue to go backwards until they axe the Force and Rebels.

A huge percentage of the RU versions of Tonga and Samoa are NZ or Aussie born also. Yes, they have more development than we do on the islands but that is about to change.

The NRL is in a position to raise its profile in the Pacific. Whether it takes the opportunity presented to it is another story.

About 48% of the players are of Polynesian or Melanesian descent. Our salary cap has never been higher. Players of Polynesian and Melanesian descent are now choosing their country of heritage over Australia and New Zealand. There's a real opportunity to grow the game in the Pacific by having an annual Pacific Nations tournament. It should coincide with State of Origin. We need develop officers on the ground in the Pacific to grow the game at the grassroots level. Make it everyone's dream in this region to play in the NRL.
