As I expected, you're pro PI's not pro NZ, as they benefit the PIs and not NZ.
Yeh all those games I went too and cheered for nz I was making a mistake

including the World Cup final in Brisbane

Australia lose players too to samoa and Tonga

buddy I know all the words to god defend nz and can mumble the Māori version

Anyway back to nz2.
If the alts could f**k off and let us discuss expansion please.

What's the point? This thread is moot. With Spark Sports demise there is no way that Sky will continue its current level of funding which leaves Aussie broadcasters deciding where the next team will be. Perth is a given and everybody knows it.

There are other threads to "discuss expansion" this one is a failed attack thread.

I wish I was as confident as you lol. I feel the 18th club will not be a big cash cow for tv value wherever it is, the next tv deal value will be in the ninth game content and hopefully competitive bidding pushing price up.

strategic intent of nrl (does it see Australian metro city reach more important than growing the game in nz?), financial backing (nrl confidence the club will be long term sustainable) and value add to the comp for sponsors etc will most likely be the key deciders.

Don't worry, the NRL will go with the money. The one thing you can count on in Aussie rugby League is self interest.

Theyare first and foremost a business so not sure you can knock for them that, they are also $300mill a year behind our main competitor and need to pull some Vlandys magic tricks to get that closed up in the years ahead.
I suspect they would strategically prefer nz2 but financially Perth is way ahead.
be interesting to see which way they lean. I still feel the WA govt will be the key decision swayer. If they put something too good to refuse on the table then it will be Perth guaranteed. I haven’t seen any support from councils or nz govt for a nz2 club so far And other than chalmers a few years ago no possible bidders have publicly come forward?

There will be zero support from councils in either Wellington or Christchurch, Long term civic projects are going to prevent anything from them, and the NZ government will not pay a cent to entice an NRL team here, given the the status of League in NZ it would be political suicide for decades yet.

TBF, I think the councils will be supportive from a yes yes but do nothing point of view. But as you note there'll be no money going in and no allowance on infrastructure use etc.

Look bro, I don't have a problem with you supporting the PIs (or NZ), but those current rules you are happy wth benefit Oz and the PIs to the detriment of NZ (and the UK I guess).

They don’t benefit Australia

it does help the pi against both oz and nz which is good

I literally made that very point way back in this thread
