How does private equity work ? Why would they want to get involved in a sport that looses that much money?

who am I watching? Pasifika? It represents Pasifika? Where in the Pacific? O everywhere.. so where in the Pacific are they playing? NZ . O so they represent NZ too ? No. Huh.. so only people from the Pacific Islands can play for them? No, anyone can play for them. So what makes them represent the Pacific? We call them Pasifika. Is Pasifika a word? It is now

it's dumber than I thought. 
The way Moana Pasifika works is that you have to be eligible to play for a "Pasifika nation" to play for them. In other words, at the very least you need to have PI heritage, and preferably be a member of one of the PI ethnicities.The only way it has my support is if it's 50 million pa. So you have to have an even split of Tongans/ Samoans. There's no way that the talent is perfectly even, so that means players are missing out based on what country they're from regardless of talent because thier country's quota has been filled.. no wonder they are getting flogged
And to "help " these Pacific countries.. they force them to form combinations with their opposition.. from another country

The NRL are never going to have a race based team. It's never going to be written up for any team anywhere. The NRL isn't a dumb development comp like Super Rugby.

They haven’t but under the guise of government aide they could surely start to be.
In theory they wouldn't care as developing Tongan players is still achieving their mission statement of providing opportunities for Pasifika players and developing them for Pasifika nations.
