They received a parliamentary censure for taking covid loans and not being able to pay them back

they will just sell off more equity to private investors to cover the shortfall
I still can't get my head around private equity, why would they want to get involved with the ARU who has 20 years of bad cash flow. How could a private equity think it's a good investment?

What's stopping the NRL going down this path ? If the ARU get 250m the NRL could get 2 billion.

With the strength of the international game you could make the ARU pretty profitable. The problem they have is they are now trying to make a domestic comp financially viable and are up against AFL and NRL to do so. Bit like problem Union and League faces in Uk up against soccer.
If they concentrated on internationals and just developed domestically to feed the players to do that then they'd be in better shape. Thast what a prvate equity firm would be looking at in all likelihood.

NRL doesnt need private investment at this point. It would only need to do so if it wanted a quick big cash hit for some major revenue generating investment purposes. But it could borrow to do that anyway given its solid revenue forecast.

You still peddling that horsehit? Really? Even after the annual report from NZR showed how little Super Rugby means to NZ Rugby bottom line?

NZR paid RA $8 million as a FIFTY percent share of Super Rugby Revenue... Out of income of 200 million that puts Super Rugby at 8% of the income that NZR gets...

Your original claim was ludicrous to begin with, and since then it has seriously become a moot point.

SkyTV have already stated they are at capacity and without Spark sport for competition their rights bid will be back to previous levels.
The Owner and CEO of the Warriors have stated NZ2 will be a disaster without the funding into junior pathways before hand.
Chalmers mythical $30 million funding has dried up and he has gone quiet, and there is no mention anywhere of ANY other NZ Bid having any financing.

NZ2 has zero chance of happening in the next decade.
I didn't write the article peanut. These are your people, more in the know than you.. and their views are extremely dark.
Maybe send a email to them 🤷‍♂️

And now here is the REAL kicker to show that you REALLY do not know what you are talking about...

"Stuff understands that Super Rugby Pacific broadcast numbers in New Zealand are actually higher year-on-year, although without a voice to speak for the competition no one would know it."

That's an extremely dark article also and without any source or figures to back up that claim lol

Has it completely flown over your head that various articles are discussing the dire situation that Super rugby is in ?
Put that head back in the sand old mate.

And you are still stupid to realise it doesn't matter. NZers are watching Super Rugby in greater numbers. If the Aussies implode, so what? Then there is a domestic comp in its place which will still get greater viewer numbers than the NRL

The Money NZR gets from Super Rugby is minimal. its 8% of revenue! The All Blacks are what matters to NZers, SkyTV knows this which is why they pay for Rugby, not super rugby .

Your initial claim is falling apart before you eyes. It's funny.

What evidence is there that NZers are watching Super Rugby in greater numbers ?
If crowd numbers are falling doesn't it make sense that the TV audience also is falling ?
PacificaUnion put out an Insta post yesturday asking for ideas how Super Rugby can boost crowds, at the current rate the comp would be dead with in 5 years, the comments ( by NZers mainly ) were saying Super Rugby is a dud, no one watches it and only suburban and Internationals are worth watching.

Once again you peanut, I'm quoting your guy.
I'm glad you're happy for Super Rugby to just be a development comp.. so is the NRL.. actually every professional comp is happy Super Rugby are satisfied being a development comp..

Theyd be better changing the all black eligibility to include any Kiwi playing for an Australian SR club. Then Twiggy could spend spend spend and at least one of the Australian clubs would be competitive lol

This doesn’t sound good
Who needs friends when you`ve got enemies like these.

"The NRL, on the other hand, is captivating, entertaining and competitive almost entirely across the 17-team league. There’s a refreshing unpredictability about the vast majority of the contests, the quality is high with few exceptions and uniformly strong attendance creates a consistent stadium atmosphere."

I thought this part was fairly poignant

"I do see it as at a crossroads though and if we don’t grab the next 18 months and turn this around you will see the NRL grow like the NFL and we will then be in a situation where we potentially become Brazilian soccer… selling talent off and bringing them back for international windows."

Because he is a journalist and he would have access to the actual figures. Just because the muppets on here don't like it doesn't make it untrue.

You really are stupid. NZR knows where its bread is buttered. Internationals. Super Rugby is merely a means to get players ready for internationals.
Thats why NZR dictates which All Blacks players have to sit out a number of games, can not play more than five Super Rugby games in a row. Can even dictate which position a player plays in. That is a development comp. The NRL is not.

Everyone in Super Rugby are sounding the alarm with new articles daily.
Luckily we have Te kah to ease our concerns lol

So a CEO of a Super Franchise is worried about his team... gee who would have thought.

You muppets think Super Rugby "dying" will matter. As I said, if RA implodes there will just be a replacement comp the following year. It will still outrate the NRL in NZ and will still keep Most All Black players in NZ.

Not that it matters with NZ2 a dead duck.
