And after the last announcement of PNG being the favoured bid for Team 18, it should finally put to bed any thought of NZ2.

If they ever do go to 20 Perth and Brisbane will be obvious choices.

Yeah thats a great history lesson, still doesn't explain why thers no tigers in balmain, yet plenty of bees that sport that same color, or that St.george dragons were the "dragon-slayers" but over time being called the dragons seemed cooler,
Either way your explaination means shit, its a way you've worded it to make it like they intended to choose a local brand or mascot, when they didn't and don't have to.... keep on tooting your horn dane
Nz rugby can choose the hurricanes, blues, crusaders, highlanders, chiefs, but RL has to stick to a local fauna FFS please..

Ive already stated the scorpions team already exists in lower grades representing the south island, they don't have to be a local creature
Scorpions sound like a bikie gang. Actually, if they're based in Christchurch that name would fit.

It'll be NZ2
announced sometime towards the end of 2024 , to come in for the start of 2026 to eliminate the bye
the NRL getting another 50 mill pa in TV rights from Aust & NZ broadcasters for the final 2 years of the this present deal

no change for team numbers for 2028-2032 , the NRL will put the TV rights out to tender & receive over 600 mill pa for the rights
we go to 20 teams & 10 games a week for the start of the 2033 season , Perth & Brisb 3
& a TV deal maybe up to 750 Mill pa

Keep dreaming... that's all you have left.

3 bids, 1 now favored. zero from NZ. NZ2 now officially dead, not that it was ever going to happen anyway.

What are you on? this has nothing to do with being able to "know everything about Australia" you dumbarse.

There are no bids from NZ and no prospect of them.
It has been announced that PNG is the prefered next bid, there are two others that are superior to NO bid.
If you can't work that out, you are defective than even your posts allude to.

It hurts so bad for you...

Australian Rugby League Commission boss Peter V’landys has revealed plans for an expanded NRL competition by 2026 with Papua New Guinea at the “top of the list” to win the code’s coveted 18th licence.
News Corp can reveal rugby league’s multifaceted strategic blueprint for the NRL to tap into a second overseas market in PNG under the code’s Operation ‘Turbo Charge’ expansion drive.
V’landys confirmed the ARLC has begun negotiations with the Australian government for PNG to enter the NRL.
The NRL already has a presence in New Zealand via the Warriors and the rousing success of new 17th franchise the Dolphins this season has given the ARLC confidence to take the Telstra Premiership to the Pacific.
ARLC commissioner Kate Jones was invited by the federal government a fortnight ago to join a trade mission to Papua New Guinea, where the former Queensland state government minister held talks with local league officials.
