Who said they have to?
How much did Los Angeles pay?

The idea is to grow the sport, like another team in NZ...

Your two circle jerk mates did. Can you not read???

And you think an SOO game in Auckland will "grow the sport"? how cute...

The NRL looks after no 1, it will go wherever the money is... It isn't in Auckland until at least 2032, and probably much longer.

Has that always been the rule?
The knock-on rule to differentiate deliberate from accidental has always been exactly the same in League as Union. If an intentional knock forward which didn't touch the ground were legal, attackers could use an AFL-style hand-pass to knock the ball past or over defenders.

The difference between the codes is down to application. In the modern era, limited possession enables a more permissive approach in League since a failed intercept attempt concedes extra possession. No such natural sanction in Union, hence they deem additional action required.

I think furthermore there's an English public school ethic where the player responsible is considered a bit of a cad. Like some other Union rules and applications, it's faintly absurd in that when a defender sticks an arm out to block a pass, whether he is penalized depends entirely on whether or not he catches the rebound before it hits the ground i.e. not determined by surmise of initial intent, which would be the same whatever the outcome.

A related area where the League rule was changed is headers which are now legal only when unintentional. In England this matter was brought to a head in 1990 after a try assist in a St. Helens/Sheffield Eagles game where lanky Saints prop John Harrison picked the ball up at dummy-half and headed it into the in-goal.

Yeh spirit of the game like in cricket

back when messenger was playing union his play was frowned upon as it involved such i gentlemanly conduct

rugby was meant to train players for war

robust masculinity or some such

You left out the bit where the only place SOO is a "premier sporting event" is in Australia... to everybody else it's a provincial series.

Auckland might pay a pittance for it, but thats it.
when 50K people fill Eden Park for one , you'll see what we all know now

you're a NFI wanker

Those who would go will alrady be fans, it wont grow shit.
World Cup - no money for it, wont happen this time.
Magic round - No money for it, wont happen unless the NRL pays for it, so wont happen
SOO - No money for it, wont happen unless the NRL pays for it, so wont happen
NZ2 - Nobody to pay for it, Aussie TV don;t want it. Corporate NZ don;t want it. Wont happen.

How many bids has NZ2 got? Actually, how much interest has ANYBODY in NZ put into a bid? answer to both is the same.

50K will fill Eden Park in the next few weeks it just wont be for League.

The ACC wont pay for SOO so it wont happen. The fact you cant get it through your thick head is telling.

The major flaw in your argument, for which there are many flaws is it's simply not "premium content".

Then there is is the simple fact the ten year budget for the ACC has already been settled, without a single mention of SOO and the Major Events budget, like the rest of the budget has been slashed.
Through in a Mayor who doesn't like spending money and loves slashing unnecessary spending and you get no money for League.

You are simply wrong, like everything else in this thread.
