New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

There shouldn't be a need for Warriors to be flying 4 development age sides to Australia every other week. Its a damming indictment of the lack of development of NZ RL that the systems in NZ are so low that it is necessary. Huge expense and imposition when for at least 2 of those age groups those kids should be in NZ comps of equal quality to the Australian ones.
The Australian systems are the best in the world

by playing in the best comp will produce the best nrl players

If kiwis just play in a kiwi comp the really talented kids won’t be tested too much so once they reach umder20 against elite Aussie they will struggle

Many Australians seem to think Unions poor state in Australia reflects unions state in the rest of the world- it doesn’t.
The codes will never merge based on Leagues one strong hold in 2 states in Aus.
If there were some sort of quota system that meant NZ players had to play for an NZ based side then absolutely a 5 team model comparable to the super rugby franchises would be great for NZ but in reality even the Warriors struggle to get NZ players and are competing with 16 other teams for those very limited resources
In 1995 when union finally got rid of boot money and became professional the head of the rfu approached Maurice Lindsey about a merger which was rejected the league boss

And we'll forget that Rugby league came from Rugby union guys converting to League.
Yes so suddenly the Kiwis will stop caring about their national sport and League will take over.

You've never explained why this could even remotely come true.

The NZRL needs significant investment at the junior level, or the sport might be all but extinct in the next decade or so.

The plan should then be to create better systems in NZ or you'll never achieve your dream of league being dominant in NZ.

The majority of talented sportsmen in the country play rugby in highly competitive schools competitions. League will never do more than pick up the Auckland league core and players on the edges if they domestic game isn't grown.

Despite what you may think most kids in NZ don't want to go to Oz to complete their schooling on a league scholarship.

The NRL needs to find some schools with average rugby teams and turn them into league schools so there's at least a minimal input at domestic level.

Seriously what relevance does this comment have to anything related to this thread? You just throw stuff at walls.

Through the year Union has Super Rugby
Through the year League has the NRL

Are you seriously suggesting that the NRL can't become more popular than Super Rugby??

Nobody suggested that the Kiwis will be more popular than the All blacks- different thing !.
From a viewership point of view the NRL is less popular than the NPC our 3rd string competition that most ABs don't play in. Outside of the Warriors the NRL does not rate well in NZ.

Ok, we'll ignore the NRL budget...ffs

Union gets money through internationals.
League gets its money through the NRL

They are not even closely structured in anyway, so please f**k off with this DUMB comparison.
The NRl isnt spending big in NZ! Its spending $20mill at most a year on Warriors. So what the NRL earns is largely irrelevant to RL in NZ until NRL starts to seriously invest in the game there at all levels. Hence 26k v 145k participant numbers,

I love how you have just come to realise how good another NZ team would be for the game... then panic cause in threatens Perth ( shit on Perth tbf) then fall back to this bullshit argument and side with Union..
You're a gutless pos
You're a very angry man lol
Id be very happy if the NRL committed $40mill a year to grassroots RL in NZ and we had 3 NZ Nrl teams in NRL. Give it a rest and stop being so butthurt.

It doesn't even necessarily have to be a school system, just a local one.

It's honestly a joke that NZ has been so poorly managed and that none of this already exists.

Isn't that what you'd expect though?

I don't find that even slightly surprising, and doubt you could do much to change it without adding multiple new clubs from NZ to the comp.

Probably as likely as dockers or eagles fans adopting a Perth nrl club as their second team lol
There are New Zealanders on here telling us that there's no animosity between rugby league and rugby in New Zealand.

Western Australians who follow fumbleball hate rugby league as much as people on this forum hate fumbleball.

completely unsubstantiated rubbish
Worse then that it claims that Rugby League can never appeal to anyone in Australia, outside of suburban Sydney and Brisbane.

All the while ignoring that Aussie Rules has created a presence in these very same suburbs that's bigger than most RL clubs fanbase.

Its just showing that they have zero faith in the game.

It shows his ignorance of anything outside his suburb.
